You mention Jehovahs Witnesses, and I was just saying that some cults are a bit more subtle than Mormon’s as to whether they are a cult. Jehovah’s Witnesses (as in comparison to Mormons) are an example of that more subtle nature ... just saying that for some who may have seen that previous statement of mine ... :-) ...
I had a friend years ago owho ALMOST joined that cult. He instead became a fundamentalist Christian.
When JWs came around he would turn their own doctrines back on them. Even his kids knew enough about the JW doctrines that they also could defend their beliefs from the JWs.
Dang I never saw that. I do remember watching movies at the Allen theater it closed down. I think they use it for storage nowadays.
Glad to hear that your friend didn’t get taken in. I had a coworker that tried many times, and in meetings in my home ... to convert me to the JWs. I was “too hardened” with my Christianity to succumb to it. Thank God for that!
If you recall Balaam told the king of Moab the way to entice the children of Israel was to have the Moab girls entice the young men into relationships and attending feasts to start worshiping false gods in violation of Exodus 34 v14-16 which forbade that sort of thing. Again in the new testament;
“ be you not yoked to unbelievers”.
Long story short- the same thing keeps happening. I’m modern times, the Mormon girls suck in the guys as you said.
Sort of like the Children of God cult but milder - that cult basically prostituted members to spread their message
