Just one year short of his retirement and a pension.

It could be the guy's a jerk about it but it certainly seems like his warnings about premarital sex and homosexuality are pretty standard boilerplate Christianity. Or at least what was standard Christian beliefs up to a few years ago and is now a fire-able offense.

Look how easily we are pressured (even internally) to adopt at least part of the EneMedia/Ruling Class Narrative.

The military is, and has been, under direct assault from all angles: cultural Marxism, homosexuals, feminists, and Muslims (Muslim Brotherhood, CAIR, etc) who were angered the military was so effective in thwarting the expansion of Islam.

Not to mention the financial meat cleaver that has hacked away at the bone and muscle of our military for going on 7 years now.

Military families have seen their healthcare slashed, their retirements threatened and dismantled, and their benefits cut, all the while the Takers are given Trillions in "disability", Food Stamps, and EITC tax "refunds" to illegal invaders.

Let's take one issue: homosexuality. It used to prevent you from joining the military. Then we had "Don't Ask Don't Tell", which rewarded those in the military who had LIED about their homosexuality in order to join the military, and allowed them to continue to serve. Then Obama and the Democrat Congress came along, and with just left in session before the Republican majority took the House in 2008, passed a repeal of DADT.

Now the homosexuals are out for revenge, and they are on the warpath against Christians in the military. The are empowered by Obama, and they are being persecuted at a scale that would have been unimaginable just a few short years ago.

The feminists have gotten away with selling false sexual assault and rape stats to Congress, the media, military leadership, and the public.

Every male, whether they are guilty or not, are painted with the wide brush of being rapists. The are herded into classrooms and auditoriums, and served up propaganda training to tell them what scum they really are. Meanwhile, homosexual rape and assaults have skyrocketed since the repeal of DADT, and these incidents are suppressed.

As the prophet Isaiah warned thousands of years ago: good is now evil, sweet is now bitter, right is now wrong.

Maybe a Purity Oath should be a part of the oath taken by service members. A lot of people in military towns would support this chaplin if it meant that the end to strip clubs and sleezy bars that commonly spring up around military bases. The families who live in military towns could be a powerful asset in this gentleman’s fight.

As a world history teacher, moving from a public school to a Christian academy (at less pay and fewer benefits) gave me a couple more years of insulation from the social wreckage cascading down.

I kept looking up for the big asteroid, but we didn’t need God to smite us from outer space. In the end, we smote ourselves with our hubris, believing that we were replacing God’s wisdom with our own. The proud decadence and in-your-face cultural perversions didn’t cause the Rupture, but they were surely flashing red signs warning that the end was near.

That we are not already further down the rat hole of total tyranny convinces me that, just as when Mr. Franklin reminded the others in Philadelphia that “...God governs in the affairs of men...”, despite our having turned our backs on Him, God is STILL governing in our affairs, hoping against hope that we will finally “get it.”

We still haven’t gotten it as too many of us silently watch the nation wiser men have called “A shining city on a hill” and “The last best hope for mankind” continue to disrespect and disregard Him and His laws and descend into a place from which few nations in history have ever escaped. It’s a well settled tenet of jurisprudence that silence is assent and that those who sleep on their rights forfeit them!

Ronald Reagan spoke eloquently of the problem thus:
“Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. We didn’t pass it to our children in the bloodstream. It must be fought for, protected, and handed on for them to do the same, or one day we will spend our sunset years telling our children and our childrens’ children what it was once like in the United States where men were free.”

If a nation’s citizens — especially the young — can be indoctrinated to the point where they reject or loathe the symbols, customs, mores, faith and traditions that made their nation – warts and all – great, that nation will be ‘fundamentally transformed’ into something to which they would long to return but, because they are now slaves, cannot.
Will ours be the generation about which President Reagan spoke? If so, may I  suggest cremation? That would preclude any children who survive the ongoing government school socialist indoctrination from digging us up to spit in our faces!

It should be, but won’t ever be. Goodness, many libertines here on FR would get bent out of shape to even suggest such a thing. Sadly, the military just reflects the screwed up mentality of the society it is drawn from.

I blame the current legitimization of homosexuality on the years of legitimization of heterosexual immorality that preceded it. The lax moral standards of heterosexuals led to the acceptance of homosexual behavior.

In the military, the only prohibitions against pre-marital/extra-marital sex seems to be if it is due to improper relationships between a superior and subordinate (fraterazation) or if adultery is involved. A frightening number of senior officers have gone down (and out of the military) over having affairs. David Petraeus is a good example.

I have been in or around the military since the early 70s. I have seen the increasing moral decline of those in uniform. It seemed to get worse with the increase of women in uniform. I AM NOT blaming the women, but the misbehavior has gotten worse...but it may just be that it became more obvious or easier due to close proximity of females.

Men are very prone to immorality, but having women in uniform that aren’t as chaste as women of the past has made it worse.

Of course, removing women from the military is not the answer. A change of attitude (morality) has to occur in our culture, and that cannot be forced. While sexual immorality of all forms has always been around, it wasn’t always openly accepted. People were ashamed to be associated with certain behaviors. That “shame” no longer exists. It is truly a “anything goes” culture that just gets worse each year.

What is REALLY scary is that many persons - professed Christians - in uniform don’t behave any better than their “unbelieving” peers. If fact many don’t have a good sense of what is decent behavior. That is true of even those outside of the military.

American Christians are becoming like the Corinthian church to which Paul wrote his epistle. They were eat up with being tainted by the immorality in the world around them.

I agree completely. Maybe the problem started when wartime enlistment was down and the military “relaxed” standards. Whatever it is, when I worked as a civilian contractor on Ft. Bragg, there were lots of Fayeteville that I would not go into, particularly at night. All prostitutes, seedy characters and young men with military haircuts up to no good.
