Nigerian Bishop Says Christ Showed Him How to Beat Islamic Terror Group
Church Militant ^ | 4-21-15 | Ryan Fitzgerald

Bishop Oliver Dashe Doeme, head of the Diocese of Maiduguri in Nigeria's Borno State, was in a chapel praying before the Blessed Sacrament last December when, he says, something extraordinary happened: Jesus Christ appeared holding a sword, which He offered to the prelate.

According to Bishop Dashe, the moment he took the sword from Jesus' hands, it transformed into Rosary beads. He then heard Christ repeat three times, "Boko Haram is gone."

The bishop recalls, "I didn't need any prophet to give me the explanation. It was clear that with the Rosary we would be able to expel Boko Haram."

Boko Haram is the Islamic group that's been massacring Christian civilians in Nigeria and beyond for several years. It originally was tied to Al Quaeda, but now formally pledges allegiance to the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria. Bishop Doeme says he's seen the size of his diocese cut in half since Boko Haram started ramping up its violent activity in 2009. Most fled for safer grounds.

"Despite all this," the Nigerian prelate says, "we do not give up our public witness to our faith." He affirms, "I wear my episcopal robes publicly, because on the day I agreed to be bishop I knew I was signing my death sentence."

Boko Haram has reportedly been used in the recent past as a bargaining tool by the United States. Bishop Emmanuel Badejo of Oyo, Nigeria states, "The United States actually said it would help Nigeria with Boko Haram only if we modify our laws concerning homosexuality, family planning and birth control."

“You mean people who like and enjoy having sex.”

No, that’s not what stanne meant. People have always enjoyed sex - even long before contraceptives were invented.

“That’s the problem. No birth control no sex.”

Gee, so that explains why there was no sex until 1961? Oh, wait, there was plenty of it for all of man’s existence BEFORE contraception.

“Sex is a very powerful force.”

So is selfishness. So is lust.

“Even priests have a hard time keeping it under control and quite a few don’t.”

So, in other words, contraceptives changed nothing in that regard either. No kidding?

By the way, married couples who do NOT use contraceptives - according to studies and surveys - have more enjoyable sex lives than couples who use contraceptives. http://www.livescience.com/16501-birth-control-relationship-satisfaction.html

Obama is as satanic as Boko Haram.

There, I said it.

God help the Nigerian Christians.

Pray for them. Pray the Rosary.

“Nice...sounds like Mary saves, too. Good theology...for a cult.”

Nice...sounds like an anti-Catholic Protestant made something up again. Good practice...for a cult.

The night Obama was elected I started posting the Rosary on the Daily Readings threads. To me, that was the best thing to do.

And I have continued — at this point, I don’t see any reason to stop.

Great stuff, and thanks for posting! John didn't exactly retire, though - he was thrown into suppressing the Dutch rebellion by his brother, Philip II of Spain, after the Duke of Alba died. Died of typhus in camp...or was he poisoned? (Well, probably not, but it's a great story).

Probably one of the most romantic characters in that little section of history. Another of his subordinates at the Battle of Lepanto was a young fellow named Sir Richard Bingham, who Elizabeth later sent to negotiate with John to get Spain out of the Dutch intervention (unsuccessfully). He was the same fellow she later sent to Ireland to suppress the Irish rebellions and whose name is not remembered altogether kindly in that country.

Don John had this wild idea to grab a Spanish army in the Netherlands, cross the channel with it, invade England, free and marry Mary Queen of Scots, and become King himself. The English took it pretty seriously (hence the speculation that he may have been poisoned). It's not accidental that something like that is exactly what his big brother Phil tried in 1588 with the Armada. That'd be the same Phil who had already married Elizabeth's big sister Mary Tudor and was actually legally King of England himself for a couple of years until she died and little sister Liz took over. So Liz was technically her enemy Phil's sister in law. Wild, wild story.

One of the Muslim corsairs that fought in that battle (probably their best commander) was Sirocco, the very same guy who captured Cervantes and used him as a galley slave for five years until Cervantes was ransomed. Cervantes wrote very kindly about him and refers to him in Don Quixote. There were more buckles swashed at Lepanto than there were people to record it. ;-)

This is a beautiful story and I'm so happy Jesus came Himself [during adoration] to instruct this fine bishop regarding the rosary.

The wonderful thing about the rosary is that you can say it anywhere and under any circumstances using your fingers as the beads. The mysteries help you keep track of what decade you’re on. I’ve said the rosary in many unusual places. Just say it daily whether it makes sense to you or not. Eventually it will.

The libs want Obama in there, and any other dem, over the war on women, otherwise known as the license to practice contraceptive lifestyle.

Obama ahs nearly a 50% approval rating as of today, as he provides nukes to the Iranians.

Bill gates’ family wanted to ‘provide’ African countries with contraceptives, and they were turned away.

Contraceptives is where they get their support. If it weren’t so, Obama would find something else. He certainly doesn’t give a crap one way or another about any of this. He’s got other motivations.

Well, vlad...if you believe that teaching the Gospel of Grace found in the Scriptures is a cult AND teaching folks to pray to Mary for salvation is the truth, then we will simply wait and see who is correct. The believers in the Gospel of Jesus Christ will stay on this side of the Tiber and the Mariolaters can stay over there with you.

"Not any Catholic (who knows the faith) nor any dogma, encyclical, priest, Pope, prayer, has ever claimed that Mary has any power other than, in the communion of saints, to talk to her son and present a cause.

It is Jesus who saves."

You are kidding, right? Please read your Romanist friends...

Bernadine: …all gifts, all virtues, and all graces are dispensed by the hands of Mary to whomsoever, when, and as she pleases. O Lady, since thou art the dispenser of all graces, and since the grace of salvation can ONLY come through thy hands, OUR SALVATION DEPENDS ON THEE.

Bonaventure: …the gates of heaven will open to all who confide in the protection of Mary. Blessed are they who know thee, O Mother of God, for the knowledge of THEE is the high road to everlasting life, and the publication of thy virtues is the way of ETERNAL SALVATION. Give ear, O ye nations; and all you who desire heaven , serve, honor Mary, and certainly you will find ETERNAL LIFE.

Ephem: …devotion to the divine Mother…is the unlocking of the heavenly Jerusalem.

Blosius: To thee, O Lady, are committed the KEYS and the treasures of the kingdom of Heaven.

Ambrose: …constantly pray ‘Open to us, O Mary, the gates of paradise, since thou hast its KEYS.

Fulgetius: …by Mary God descended from Heaven into the world, that by HER man might ascend from earth to Heaven.

Athanasius: …And, thou, O Lady, wast filled with grace, that thou mightiest be the way of our SALVATION and the means of ascent to the heavenly Kingdom.

Richard of Laurence: Mary, in fine, is the mistress of heaven; for there she commands as she wills, and ADMITS whom she wills.

Guerric: …he who serves Mary and for whom she intercedes, is as CERTAIN of heaven as if he were already there…and those who DO NOT serve Mary will NOT BE SAVED.

Anselm: It suffices, O Lady, that thou willest it, and our SALVATION is certain.

Antoninus: …souls protected by Mary, and on which she casts her eyes, are NECESSARILY JUSTIFIED AND SAVED.

My remarks are not "condemning" without cause. These are your folks setting their theology out for all to see. And, praying to Mary for help is idolatrous.

No, we won’t because you are saying or implying (”If”) that I believe things no one really in fact believes. If you want to accuse me of something, accuse me of something I actually believe or have done.

“The believers in the Gospel of Jesus Christ will stay on this side of the Tiber and the Mariolaters can stay over there with you.”

So you’re accusing me of worshiping the Virgin Mary, is that what you’re saying?

What they say about Catholicism says more about their own faith than it does about ours.

Asking for Mary's intercession is not asking Mary for salvation. No matter how many times you say it, it not what the Catholic Church teaches.

It's kind of like when you were a kid and you wanted to do something special but you knew dad would say "NO." You might have by passed dad and gone directly to mom to ask dad for you. Mom would know just how to bring it up and just the right words to say to "maybe" get the answer you want. It might not have always worked, but mom had the best shot at getting the positive result. And as for a son, can he refuse his mother when she asks him to do something?

“These are your folks setting their theology out for all to see”

These examples, and they are quite an array, surely from a collection of anticatholicism, otherwise it’d have taken you a month to come up with these, are poetry.

They are simply not dogma, nor the teaching of the Church. It’s not somepastor who can just come up with ideas and call it a religious practice.

from http://forums.catholic.com/showthread.php?t=368393

A Catholic Theologian answers the simple question, posed on Catholic.com, and refers to the true teaching of the Church, the Catechism:

“the Catholic Church teaches that Mary does dispense grace, but that grace comes from God, who freely chooses to act through Mary, because of her absolute obedience to Him. Mary does not decide who gets grace, only God does. Therefore, a Catholic may be comfortable in believing that proposition

Grace, according to the Catechism comes from:

Mary’s function as mother of men in no way obscures or diminishes this unique mediation of Christ, but rather shows its power. But the Blessed Virgin’s salutary influence on men . . . flows forth from the superabundance of the merits of Christ, rests on his mediation, depends entirely on it, and draws all its power from it.” “No creature could ever be counted along with the Incarnate Word and Redeemer; but just as the priesthood of Christ is shared in various ways both by his ministers and the faithful, and as the one goodness of God is radiated in different ways among his creatures, so also the unique mediation of the Redeemer does not exclude but rather gives rise to a manifold cooperation which is but a sharing in this one source.”

Catechism of the Catholic Church, paragraphs 967-970.

“And, praying to Mary for help is idolatrous”

I was humbled and awed by this Bishop’s immense faith and courage.

He really put in perspective the cowardliness of the bickering that goes on around here in Jesus’ name.
