Nigerian Bishop Says Christ Showed Him How to Beat Islamic Terror Group

Bishop Oliver Dashe Doeme, head of the Diocese of Maiduguri in Nigeria's Borno State, was in a chapel praying before the Blessed Sacrament last December when, he says, something extraordinary happened: Jesus Christ appeared holding a sword, which He offered to the prelate.

According to Bishop Dashe, the moment he took the sword from Jesus' hands, it transformed into Rosary beads. He then heard Christ repeat three times, "Boko Haram is gone."

The bishop recalls, "I didn't need any prophet to give me the explanation. It was clear that with the Rosary we would be able to expel Boko Haram."

Boko Haram is the Islamic group that's been massacring Christian civilians in Nigeria and beyond for several years. It originally was tied to Al Quaeda, but now formally pledges allegiance to the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria. Bishop Doeme says he's seen the size of his diocese cut in half since Boko Haram started ramping up its violent activity in 2009. Most fled for safer grounds.

"Despite all this," the Nigerian prelate says, "we do not give up our public witness to our faith." He affirms, "I wear my episcopal robes publicly, because on the day I agreed to be bishop I knew I was signing my death sentence."

Boko Haram has reportedly been used in the recent past as a bargaining tool by the United States. Bishop Emmanuel Badejo of Oyo, Nigeria states, "The United States actually said it would help Nigeria with Boko Haram only if we modify our laws concerning homosexuality, family planning and birth control."

Respectfully, one’s sex partner is not an object, rather a spouse. God made sex feel great and be desirable, because it promotes unity, as well as fecundity.

When we recognize the great gift, and incredible power of our sexuality, we will draw closer to our spouses and to God.

If you have been married any length of time, abstaining from sex 5-7 days a month is no big deal. For those of us closing in on 20 years, we can do 5-7 days on our heads.

Seriously, though, sexuality should not be viewed as just a pleasurable pass time. Rather, celebrated, and enjoyed for its unitive and procreative purposes.

Does a day pass where you don’t feel burning hatred for the Catholic Church?

I don’t doubt the seriousness of your belief or zeal in what you think is God’s calling, but have you ever considered your negativity may actually be an impediment to your relationship with God?

While I despise the evil of militant Islam, I don’t hate Muslims. Each and every one is created by God. He loved each one of them enough to bring them into existence, and sustain them.

It is certainly one thing to hold fast to one’s beliefs, and to speak out against the ills of other beliefs. However, when it is consuming and negative, the message may become muddled.

Consider asking Our Lord, in your next devotional, to enliven your spirit, and bring peace into your life. Also ask for the wisdom to do His will, in the way He wishes it done. If everyone made this prayer, the world would be a happier place.

Yes!! No matter what faith one follows, Trust Jesus! And we'll be good to go. :)

That's why you are constantly tricked by the 'enemy'...Believing in the wisdom sinful men instead of God...

There is only one way to avoid the tricks of the 'enemy' and that way is reading and believing the scriptures...

“What they say about Catholicism says more about their own faith than it does about ours.”

I have often thought that.

Thanks for letting us know about this. My daughter was so moved she said a rosary right away. (Not something a 16 year-old usually does at the drop of a hat.)

But the pope does not. No pope has done so for 60 years. They never condemn the religion itself.

Beautiful quote! Padre Pio recited more rosaries a day than most Catholics do all year. And for those who have not seen this extraordinary video of Padre Pio's last Mass, I'll leave this link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hgbVHbPArTs

“So be it, everyone add “Slambat” to your rosary intention.”

“blabbering”?

My, how intolerant some people are that they go so far out
of their way to intentionally take something someone said
totally out if context.

The night Obama was elected I started posting the Rosary on the Daily Readings threads. To me, that was the best thing to do.

Maybe praying to God instead??? Yet you instinctively went to Mary.
