Never mind. I found it in Acts with an explanation that “A Sabbath day’s journey = 1/2 mile of walking” — all that was allowed by the Old Law.
Jesus and the Apostles being of Jewish descent, of course, followed the Law.
Right. So, not wanting to follow Jesus’ and the first disciples’ example, the church made up new stuff, like treating the first day of the WORK (six days shall you labor).
