Jesus said he did not abolish the law and those who violate it will not enter heaven. The issue is just giving lip service to Jesus does not make one a Christian anymore then standing in a garage makes one a car.

Yes we do not have to follow to law to obtain righteousness, however the law is still in effect and a Christian wants to please God so will follow it and not live in unrepentant sin.

This is stated in the scripture I already posted.

>>however the law is still in effect<<

1 John 3:6 by abolishing in His flesh the enmity, which is the Law of commandments contained in ordinances, so that in Himself He might make the two into one new man, thus establishing peace,

Colossians 2:13 When you were dead in your transgressions and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He made you alive together with Him, having forgiven us all our transgressions, 14 having blotted out the handwriting in the ordinances that is against us, that was contrary to us, and he hath taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross;

Jesus took the penalties of the law upon Himself. If you think not you may want to check back how breaking only one made you guilty of breaking them all. And that even thinking was considered breaking the law.

Galatians 3:10 For all who rely on the works of the law are under a curse, as it is written: "Cursed is everyone who does not continue to do everything written in the Book of the Law."
