Would you put your 14 year old on display with his sins?

Would you put the pervert on a TV show that crows about how righteous you all are?

I bet you have never watched the show. They really are not preachy at all on the show. They are raising children. The show is about parenting and a life style choice. A little religion thrown in here and there. Most especially as the children have grown up there is less of the religion brought up, still not preachy.

What is wrong with teaching a moral code to kids? What is wrong with raising 19 kids? One messes up, so the other 18 don't deserve a chance? Silence the victims? The victims are adults now as well, why silence them? A christian has sinned. Why is that news?

"If in coming face to face with God we accept Him in our lives, then we are converting. We become a better Hindu, a better Muslim, a better Catholic, a better whatever we are. ... What God is in your mind you must accept" (from Mother Teresa: Her People and Her Work , by Desmond Doig, p. 156, as quoted by Dave Hunt, Global Peace and the Rise of Antichrist , p. 149).

What God is in your mind you must accept. So don't explain the true God of scripture, just allow them and in fact encourage them to stay with whatever they believe.

Who is we?

I don't fondle family members. I wouldn't fail to remove an offender away from my kids so there isn't an opprotunity to victimize them again. I wouldn't defend this either in a poor attempt to defend "the brand."

This defense is like the Penn State Football culture. Josh is (or hopefully was) on his way to be Jerry Sandusky. His parents that didn't remove him were like JoePa. The defenders are the Penn State program, including the fans, that are more worried about protecting the brand name instead of doing the right thing.

I bet you have never watched the show.

Correct.

What is wrong with teaching a moral code to kids?

Nothing.

What is wrong with raising 19 kids?

That's a little bit creepy.

One messes up, so the other 18 don't deserve a chance?

A chance to do what? Have a TV show?

How do you know that Josh has not owned up to it?

Did he tell us about it, or did the media do so? Question asked and answered...

Would you put your 14 year old on display with his sins?

What I would do is not in question...but the Duggars did in fact do so, knowing full well that damning skeletons lurked in their closet...

I just think you all are a bunch of hard hearted individuals and I am glad I am not related to you.

so glad you can discuss a topic on the internet using lucid and rational discourse...

So by your logic, if a person makes a mistake, they give up their rights to speak out on anything?

Sigh...regardless of the fact that I said nothing that would engender that little gem, I will humor you and answer...one who errs can speak out on any topic he/she wishes, as loud and as often as desired...what they cannot do is demand freedom from the consequences of their words and actions...thus the reaping and sowing bit...

Correct? Wow! Oh well!

I guess that says it all...

Where has he demanded freedom from the consequences? If you were actually watching the show over the years. Josh started out as very prominent, then all of a sudden they were talking to the other kids. Josh was married off as soon as they were able and Josh is was not asked to be in either of his sisters weddings.

I thought that this was odd, now I see the reason for it. He is not well thought of amongst his brothers and sisters. No one rushes to meet him when they arrive at the house. They rush to meet his wife, but not him.

Now parents are parents to good kids and bad whether they like it or not. If I had that many kids I would quite grateful if only one of them was/is a deviant. Also, the shame that the Duggars have over the episode is quite likely very deep. It's not something you talk about over coffee. Having had a relative who committed an offense in his youth, I assure you they were mortified, embarrassed and never brought it up.

It appears to me that calling the Duggers "Christians" is a bit of a stretch. It looks to me that what they worship is and

Christians have so much to teach non-Christians about forgiveness and its power.

Where has he demanded freedom from the consequences?

I answered a generalized question that you asked, based on your depiction of my logic...I have no idea whether Josh Duggar demanded any such thing...

If you were actually watching the show over the years.

it is indubitably true that I have never watched even one segment of the program...

Also, the shame that the Duggars have over the episode is quite likely very deep

I have no doubt that is true...and if it were true when the incident occurred, it is all the more curious as to why they felt the need to parade their family life as a sort of moral iconism, through the eye of public media...

Having had a relative who committed an offense in his youth, I assure you they were mortified, embarrassed and never brought it up.

I too had a relative who committed an offense (albeit nonsexual)...yes, it hurts to talk about it...

However much the Duggar parents may be an extreme case, it is the same reason most parents don’t see child molestation as ‘real’ rape or incest, because it taints their kids and makes them look like bad parents. Suddenly it is not the cute little girl or the cute little boy but the rape or abuse victim. So in the end they talk themselves into it that it was not a real abuse or rape and probably not meant like that and probably somehow prompted by the victim or circumstances.

The "incidents" happened in 2002-2003, long before the TV series started in 2008.

SO? He was a child. I am appalled at how many people think the government should have taken over at this time!

I love how people who have never watched the show feel like they have to weigh in. I never watched Honey Boo Boo and never weighed in. Never watched the Kardasians either for that matter. Maybe no one cares what you think?

What is completely freaking astounding to me is that there is a real enemy at the gate, it’s called ISIS! You are spending all your time beating up a Christian boy who did a really bad thing. Call me when the savages are beheading your children. It’s coming! Count on it! The feds are bringing them in. LOL TV a thing of the past!

I was NOT arguing with you. I am NOT part of the lynch mob here.

I was merely pointing out a fact: The change in attitude that you may have noticed on the show toward this one son more than likely had nothing to do with those earlier incidents because those incidents happened before the show started.

I’ll accept that, but I have been watching for ten years Why? Because some of us were not gifted with the ability to have children. I wanted a bunch! But I was not able. Not that any of the nasty idiots care, but I enjoyed watching the kids grow up, but who cares about that, as long as the “righteous” can spout about a program they never watched!

They don’t use birth control. They decided to be open to have as many children as God dictated.

Interesting that non-Catholic folks never argued, "we're all queers who lied our way into the priesthood".

Obviously non-Catholic folks have a severe case of double standards and excuseitis.
