Ulan-Ude, June 24, Interfax - Saudi Arabia and other Gulf countries should understand that, if Syrian leader Bashar al-Assad's regime collapses, the terrorist group Islamic State will come after them, Russian Security Council Deputy Secretary Yevgeny Lukyanov said.
"The states of this region, like Saudi Arabia, Gulf countries, and perhaps some others, should pray for Bashar al-Assad. This is the last security line for them," Lukyanov told journalists on Wednesday.
"If Assad's regime collapses, Saudi Arabia and other Gulf countries will be the next targets for the IS," he said.
"There are some 5,000 of the Saudi king's subjects fighting for the IS. Where will they return when the active phase of the confrontation comes to an end there?" Lukyanov said.
As must as I cannot stand Assad, (felt the same way about Ghadaffi duck and the Egyptian) He is in fact the last line of defense in ISIS push north.
Syria falls, ISIS has a land bridge right to Europe. And socialist Europe, who Obama is trying to model our country after is the one responsible for this.
Guess he did have more flexibility after all!
And he is right.
Assad is scum - but he’s better than ISIS.
Assad has helped ISIS, anyone can look that up.

Assad and the Iranians also aided rebellion against the USA in Iraq.
I won’t fall for RT/Iranian propaganda. Assad has probably killed more than ISIS and the civil war occurred for 2 years before ISIS showed up. Assad is a front for Iranian interests and heavily funded, the Assad family for decades by USSR/Russia.
“”There are some 5,000 of the Saudi king’s subjects fighting for the IS. Where will they return when the active phase of the confrontation comes to an end there?” Lukyanov said.”
And Russian Security Intel likewise says 5000 Russians fight for ISIS. http://www.ibtimes.com/blame-it-weak-border-control-5000-russians-fighting-isis-1974153 (reported in Pravda as well)
In the end, there are other alternatives than ISIS and Assad there. 12.5% minority ruling over the majority, in the long run, it doesn’t seem like it can ever work.
