Love this statue and II Corinthians 3:17 in marble outside the south wall of the Detroit City/County Building, near the Detroit River. It is large and classy.
Detroit is a city with a lot of really great old school statues. Everything from the sailors and soldiers monument to Father Marquette.
This kind of thing could lead to a Savonarola showing up...
Not true, more in the neighborhood of about 20 with most of the others from out of state in the Boston area........
One and the same..........
Aw, how cute... [sarc]
It’s all because Hillary didn’t have a proper Marxist government “[It Takes a] Village” during her childhood. Not sure what happened to Obama, or whatever his name is. [sarc]
Seriously, their father is described well in John 8:44 -
44 You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your fathers desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.
Ugh.
The statue that was created is made of bronze and stands 8 ft. tall..........That's what the pastor who was interviewed on my WJR AM radio said this morning........
:-( So there are 2 of them. (The one in #16 isn’t the photo I’ve seen).
This one has a link to an AP photo

“FILE - This July 6, 2015 file photo provided by The Satanic Temple shows the sculpture an 8½-foot-tall bronze monument featuring Satan was cast from in New York. A group plans to unveil the 1½-ton Baphomet, which shows Satan with horns, hooves, wings and a beard flanked by two young children, at a private event in Detroit. The Satanic Temple says it advocates the separation of church and state. (The Satanic Temple via AP, File) “

Can anyone translate that for me?
I agree.
Lot’s of stuff in and around the city.
To bad socialism was the system/law of the land, as it literally destroyed the lives and areas surrounding much of the true world class art, if not the art itself sometimes. The same can be said of many once truly classy structures around Detroit.
I’ve often wondered what would happen if they were to privatize or re-designate places like Belle Isle, or offer some real incentive to bring them back. What a location!
It’s not even impossible to make things even better with the right competition and motivation.
Having traveled and lived in many locations around the world, it’s both accurate and safe to say that besides the subjection of entire societies, humanism and its political manifestations, often socialism or some form of totalitarianism, ultimately destroys everything period.
Downtown Detroit and some of the midtown areas are really quite nice and getting better. They just imploded a downtown hotel the other day to make room for the new Red Wings arena.
I think the new bridge is also going to be an economic boon for the city as well.
BTW, the state has taken control of Belle Isle and has it looking very good. The two INDY races are good moneymakers.
I’m not positive that’s the photo I’ve seen- only that it was wider than the one in post 16. This could be it.
I’m wondering if it was supposed to be “from a *foundry* in New York.” Weird stuff goes on in New England/ the northeast. I recall some stuff/ photos around the shooting in Connecticut that were attributed to satanists.
As long as they have a way to fund the new Red Wings development, and to keep the necessary funding going in the future without taxing people to death, I am all for it, with the exception of some kind of casino plan.
Same for the new international bridge.
Did the White Hut finally give the green light on the bridge?
I know a year ago, they were really dragging their feet on pushing the new bridge forward, even while financed almost entirely by Canada. The reason was I believe the owner of the Ambassador Bridge was a major donor to the Obama campaigns.
If the bridge goes forward, they could get rid of vast areas of blight, and could trigger a renovation from downtown Detroit, all the way down and including the old Ft. Detroit.
I would pay to come back and see that.
No the white house isn’t giving approval for the bridge but Canada and Michigan are going ahead without it. Obama will be gone when its done. It will be called the Gordie Howe international crossing bridge.
Looks like Fort Wayne at the foot of where the bridge will be built will be getting some major restoration as well. Private investors and various historic societies are planning to spend some money in hopes of attracting visitors.
Detroit liberals honor themselves with this latest erection.
I support releasing a large flock of freshly- and well-fed pigeons over that thing ASAP.
Funny!
Actually, it would be an accurate and fitting tribute to Barrack Hussein Obama’s legacy at the future Obama library hut.
