The priest I respect the most was a former Marine.

He heard rumors about one of the priests at the diocesan school making advances on some of the boys. I was told the story years later - He told this guy privately “If I ever hear another story like this, I WILL beat the sh** out of you.

The other priest left his vocation shortly thereafter to pursue other career opportunities.

Problem solved promptly, with brevity and no harm done to anyone and no scandal to the Church. A kind of wisdom, no doubt.

I visited the Independent for the first time today on a different subject altogether. A more obtuse left-wing rag which makes the Village Voice look like Highlight Magazine, I’ve never seen.
