Gay Catholic Group Encouraged that Synod Will Bring ‘New Era of Pastoral Care’

The Global Network of Rainbow Catholics has released a statement in response to the synod on the family

Gay Catholics have said they are encouraged by the Pope’s closing address to the synod and are hopeful for a “new era” of pastoral care.

The Global Network of Rainbow Catholics (GNRC) said that while it was not always happy with terminology used to describe gay people, it felt it was the “beginning of a new era of inclusive pastoral care for and with LGBT people and their families.”

It added it hoped dioceses could take on this attitude across the world.

In a statement, the group said it felt there was also “no longer any reason” to not include same-sex couples as well as children with same-sex parents in pastoral plans as the synod mentioned “specific attention should be paid to families that have a member with homosexual tendencies”.

However, GNRC said it rejected the synod’s implication that the best interests of a child, in adoptive or fostering situations, necessarily requires parenting by opposite sex couples.

It added: “Such a statement flies in the face of considerable social science research and denigrates the generosity of lesbian and gay couples, as well as single parents, in caring for unwanted children.”

GNRC argued the terminology used by the synod, such as “gender ideology” would continue to give “those who seek to find an excuse not to listen and respond pastorally to the realities of LGBT lives, and those of parents and families”.

Before the synod, the group released a briefing urging the synod to reject the global criminalisation of homosexual activities, including the use of the death penalty.

It claims the synod fathers did not take this into account, saying it “strongly rejected” the synod’s suggestion that financial aid to poor countries.......

What do gays have to be encouraged about?

Homosexual behavior is still a sin, and same-sex attraction is still a mental illness.

Exactly. Jesus called all sinners to repentance, and said of those who refuse to listen to His message to knock the dust off your feet from the dust of their homes and move on.

76. The Church conforms her attitude to the Lord Jesus who in a limitless love offered himself for every person without exception (MV, 12). Regarding families who live the experience of having within their family persons with homosexual tendencies, the Church repeats that every person, independently of his sexual tendency, is to be respected in his dignity and welcomed with respect, careful to avoid “every sign of unjust discrimination” (Congregation for the Doctrine of the Family, Considerations regarding proposals to give legal recognition to unions between homosexual persons, 4). May special attention be reserved also for the accompaniment of families in which persons with homosexual tendencies live. Regarding proposals to equate unions between homosexual persons with marriage, “there are absolutely no grounds for considering homosexual unions to be in any way similar or even remotely analogous to God’s plan for marriage and family. Marriage is holy, while homosexual acts go against the natural moral law. Homosexual acts “close the sexual act to the gift of life. They do not proceed from a genuine affective and sexual complementarity. Under no circumstances can they be approved” (ibid.). The synod hold that it is entirely unacceptable that local churches suffer pressure on this matter and that international organizations make financial help to poor counties conditioned on the introduction of laws that institute “marriage” between persons of the same sex.

AMEN. Brother! We can, of course, expect the leftist faggots in Big Media to completely ignore this.

The BEST pastoral care a homosexual can receive is the truth.

That their perversion of God’s will is a sin, that it is destructive to the individual, their families, and to society. Continued living of the guy lifestyle is a choice and continued rejection of God’s word is depravity.

However, GNRC said it rejected the synod’s implication that the best interests of a child, in adoptive or fostering situations, necessarily requires parenting by opposite sex couples.

The "implication" they don't like is the one that says opposite sex couples are good.

They prefer their own "implication" that the Church is going to become what they want it to be.

Good luck with that.

‘However, GNRC said it rejected the synod’s implication that the best interests of a child, in adoptive or fostering situations, necessarily requires parenting by opposite sex couples.’

More than 20% of children raised in same sex couples homes are sexually abused. Less than 3% of those raised by opposite sex couples are abused sexually.

The Church has just endured a scandal involving a very small percentage of priests who abused primarily pubescent boys causing multi-billion dollar losses and huge problems with their flock. 99% of the offenders where homosexuals who could not control their deviant sexual desires and preyed upon the children they where supposed to protect. They of all institutions should be most weary of the dangers of homosexuals as they are mentally ill people who are significantly more likely to sexually offend.

Hurray, hurray for the Synod!!!

If homosexuals think that they will EVER get the go-ahead for making their "lifestyle" sin-free, they are dreaming. It will always be a sin, at least for the Catholics.
Let other faiths legalize and legitimize it...some MORAL ABSOLUTES are/always will be just that AND unchangeable.

Odd that the Catholic (both Roman and Orthodox) Church is the only one with that moral absolute. I guess for others sin may just be a personal opinion.

Pope Benedict's [Panzer Pope] warning on relative morality rings true, doesn't it? .

We need to remember that ALL sexual activity outside of marriage is a perversion of what God created it to be. This includes adulterers or anyone else who engages in sexual activity outside of a valid marriage.

We are all sinners and we should never forget this!

Why would a couple of homosexuals even go near a Roman Catholic church?

Moreover, why would a Roman Catholic church even tolerate the presence of known and active homosexuals?

None of us is having any problems with that.

What we have a problem with is people who are bloody PROUD of their sin, flaunting and even practicing it in public, and even forcing others to celebrate it against their conscience.
