AP - The largest movement of Judaism in the U.S. passed the most far-reaching resolution in support of transgender rights of any major religious organization, saying Thursday that it's a continuation of a tradition of inclusion in the Reform Jewish movement.

Some gay rabbi was pushing the Open Bathrooms proposition in Houston, too. Thank God that faithful Black pastors and White pastors united to defeat this travesty.
Reform Jews don’t necessarily believe in G-d.
They believe in the Democrat party more strongly.
For those Freepers not familiar with the Reform Jewish movement, it was long ago accurately described as “the platform of the Democratic party with the [Jewish] holidays thrown in.”
These days most Reform Jews don’t even observe most of the Jewish holidays. But they are religiously committed to the platform of the Democratic party.
The good news, for Judaism and for the United States of America — is
A. the people who generate and subscribe to these ridiculosities tend not to have even two children; and, in part as a result of that,
B. The demographic studies make clear that in two generations almost all actual Jews will be Orthodox Jews. The people subscribing to this nonsense will have been lost to this religion and probably to all religion. Sad, for their children and grandchildren. But it’s happening and nothing effective can be done to stop it. Orthodox Jews have no time for this nonsense, for the simple reason that the Torah says it’s nonsense. End of story.
Amen.
Take a Shot!
I used to know some of the more senior people in the URJ and, while they were nice people, they had this incredible, naive faith in Liberalism that they didn’t question. I’m sure this wasn’t thought out. It was just a “going along with the crowd” move.
Like these transgenders I am confused. What rights don’t they have? They can marry who they want, go to whichever bathroom they want, dress how they want, there is no job discrimination, they aren’t told to sit in the back of the bus.
So, what’s the problem? I asked my brilliant, but bi daughter and she explained it perfectly. These trannies are guys who couldn’t get their self esteem up enough to ask out a girl so they figure if they were a girl they would get more attention from other girls. What they failed to realize is “ugly men can get a woman. Ugly women got problems.”
Traditional Jews and Reformed Jews
Trad’l: One set of dishes for meat, another set for dairy.
Reform: One set of dishes exclusively for cheeseburgers.
Trad’l: Hire “shabbos goy” to perform religiously prohibited tasks.
Reform: Hire “Orthodox Jew” to perform religiously required tasks.
Trad’l: Will not combine meat with milk.
Reform: Will not combine meat with chocolate milk.
Jewish men have been wearing sacred round
skullcaps since ancient times, possibly to
hide male pattern baldness.
Jewish Year: Current year plus 3760.
Jewish Dog Year: Current year plus 3760, multiply by 7.
Since the “reformeds” basically pick & choose which tenets of Judaism they feel like following, the resulting conglomerate they potchka together and call Judaism has little resemblance to authentic Torah Judaism. It ticks me off that they even use the word “Jew” or “Judaism” when discussing their random collection of customs and laws. That’s like taking the Mona Lisa and cutting out little bits from here and there and then calling the collected snippets “Mona Lisa”.
Therefore, what they do and what they attribute to Judaism garners little caring from me. They’re making it up as they go along.
Zero opposition to the vote according to AP.
I believe what you describe is a result of Eastern European Liberal (theological, not political) Judaism wing taking over the US Reform movement. I agree with your assessment because some still think if they accommodate everything, it gets people back to synagogues and maybe absorb some Torah.
Or it’s another excuse for establishing another temple fund to renovate plumbing. :P
I remember two of the ones I knew talking about a deliberation that they were having at one of the URJ subsidiary organizations. They talked at length about wanting to do the right and moral thing, which impressed me. I usually don’t hear a governing board so focused on doing the right thing. However, the scary part is that “the right thing” seemed to always turn out to be agreeing with whatever the liberal trend of the day was.
many or most “reform Jews” are as authentically Jewish as Nancy Pelosi is authentically Catholic or Obama is authentially “Christian”
From a religious perspective, why do you think that is?
Preserving our covenant is the Jewish responsibility. If someone who considers him/herself “transgender” and faces depression along with suicidal thoughts, then it is our responsibility to answer the cry for help. An Orthodox shul isn’t going to form specific outreach to this person, nor in many cases is it going to be the first place this person will turn to.
Maybe consider the number of bathrooms and the lack of gender signs in a Reform synagogue isn’t really the message behind this decision.
The Reform Movement of Judaism, started in Germany in the 19th century, and infiltrated in the 20th century by socialism and Marxism, selects out of context the phrase “repairing the world,” (Tikkun Ha’Olam) from a key prayer in the Jewish prayer service, the Alenu prayer.
The full sentence in the prayer, reciting at every prayer service, talks about repairing the world according to the rules given to man by the king of the universe - God’s laws given in the Torah (i.e. the Five Books of Moses/what Christians call the “Old Testament”). Leaders of the Reform Movement, an outgrowth of the humanist movement, think they themselves are God and that they can reject what is not politically correct and that they can make up their own laws, since they are “smarter and more “up to date” than God.
They plug any and all far Left agenda items du jour into their revised “repairing the world” paradigm. When one attends the Reform Movement conventions, every brochure and program cover includes that same phrase, “Tikkun ha’Olam”/”mending the world.”
That God’s law actually forbids what they support in his name is something they won’t face, or they delude themselves into distorting the Torah and believing that all behavior is in God’s image and therefore ok. They ignore that God has given us his guidebook for healthy, same living and that certain behaviors are deleterious to humankind and therefore forbidden.
In the case of socalled “transgendered” people, they go along with the delusional claim that God made a mistake with these individuals and they in the Reform Movement, smarter than God, are going to “fix” that by fanning the flames of these individuals’ perverted, mental health syndrome, behavioral choices that are absolutely counter to the very tenets of the religion, not to mention counter to human experience and common sense.
The socalled “Conservative Movement” is not far behind, in its rush to copy the Reform Movement and call itself “enlightened.” Attempts to infiltrate the orthodox institutions are also underway.
Of course the same Leftist infiltration, the same distortions of Church law and teachings, which are grounded in Jewish law, have happened in parallel among Christian denominations.
Typo in 3rd paragraph: that should have read “sane” living. “They ignore that God has given us his guidebook for healthy, sane living and that certain behaviors are deleterious to humankind and therefore forbidden.”
