In leaked recording of Likud faction meeting, prime minister also questions how New York would cope with wave of violence similar to one faced by Israel.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Thursday that Israel could destroy the Al-Aqsa Mosque on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem if it wanted to â but doing so "would be contrary to everything we represent."
Netanyahu was speaking during a meeting of the Likud Knesset faction on Thursday. A recording of his words was published by Army Radio.
Responding to what he said was Palestinian incitement regarding Israel's supposed interest in getting rid of the mosque, which has been at the center of repeated clashes between Palestinian protesters and the Israel Defense Forces, Netanyahu said....

Could have been done in June 1967, but a traitor named Moshe Dayan instead handed the entire Temple Mount back to the Arabs, for which a soldier should have shot him in the head right there. One of the most disastrous decisions in history.
Exactly.
We will destroy Al-Aqsa Mosque on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem. ...unless the violence stops.
...which it won’t.
The thing is a temple to Satan standing on the holiest ground there is. It should be obliterated.
That monstrosity is coming down.
Of course the prospect of a Third Temple really would be quite unsettling to many who think that they support Israel.
Imagine a site with regular sacrificing of animals occurring regularly.
Consider that possibility.
Nothing as monstrous as sacrificing 1.5 million unborn babies every year. But goats are cute and furry.
Consider that possibility.
Better question. What would God think of that? Consider asking Him.
It wasn't Dayan's decision, it was made by the entire Israeli cabinet, according to Michael Oren's history Six Days of War. According to Oren (and he had access to the original documents), the Israeli government at first hesitated to even take the Old City of Jerusalem, because they were afraid the U.S. would turn against them, and eventually decided to take the city but turn the Muslim holy places over to the Muslim religious authorities (and the Christian holy places over to the Christian Arab authorities).
Perverse comment on your part; in whose armed forces did you serve ?
I pray for that very thing daily.
Perverse? Do you even know the history of the 1967 war? Moshe Dyan was against the mission he was given by the PM. As soon as he carried out the letter of the instructions, he contacted the Jordanians and gave the Temple Mount back. Brave Israelis died to free it, and the sun did not set before he surrendered it.
THAT is perverse.
I love Bibi, but I cringe when people say things like that. Sounds a lot like 'We're better than that' or 'It's not who we are'.
Matthew 24:15-16: 15 âSo when you see standing in the holy place âthe abomination that causes desolation,â[a] spoken of through the prophet Danielâlet the reader understandâ 16 then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains
What could be more of an abomination in the holy place than a temple to Satan?
Yes, perverse; advocating the assasination of an IDF Defense Minister is the desperate wickedness of a terrorist and enemy of Israel.
I’m looking very forward to seeing the mosque and the Dome of the Crock being razed with demolition charges galore!
Moshe Dayan was a prime architect of winning that war - he still followed orders...
