I don't believe Ben could maintain that sentiment today.

I understand the sentiment, and it is very easy to see the horrible possibility of failure... and a setting sun...
However, imho the Fat Lady has not Sung yet! For example, Ben might not have been able to see that sun as rising in those dark days after Pearl Harbor. We were literally fighting for our lives and existence, just as we are now, I understand. My dad would tell me it was not at all a known thing that we would win. He was preparing to lose his life in the invasion of the Japanese homeland when the atomic bomb stopped the war.
I have great hope that there are the requisite number of true patriots alive who hold the flame of Freedom for this needful hour.
What gives me hope is the promise God gave to Abraham to save the city for the sake of the 10. IMHO we DO have that archetypal “Ten,” as evidenced by the massive rejections of the globalists and power elite in recent years, despite their not listening to us and their ramming their program down our throats. I count Brexit and the rise of Donald Trump and the entire worldwide Freedom movement as being signs of the great hope we may have in our Lord who WILL listen to our petitions.
Just food for thought and hope.
