The ceremony, that included that slaughtering of a lamb
Being a little judgmental aren't we?
My emotional reaction is the same as yours but God may not see it the same way we do.
"And according to the Law, one may almost say, all things are cleansed with blood, and without shedding of blood there is no forgiveness."Hebrews 9:22
Americans kill 600,000 babies a year and you are upset about killing a lamb. Priorities.
barbarity?
well, McDonalds alone serves up millions of tons of animal flesh every day (I wouldn’t care to speculate just which animals give their all for mcD’s...)
so ... with all due respect for religious and non-religious vegetarian people.....I fully respect that....
there’s nothing barbaric about the Jewish sacrifice of a couple animals at the altar.
FIRST.... the method of killing is very precise and the most human possible, far far far far less pain to the animal than typical for McD or grocery or most regular buthcher store meats.
SECOND, other than some fats (for the “smoke effect”), almost all the meat goes directly for human nutrition.....in other words, the meat is NOT “wasted for the sake of the religious faith ritual”.....Today, as in Biblical times, a portion of the meat is offered to the priests (part of their pay) and the balance of the meat is offered to anybody who may need some food and is consumed by the offering party and his family for dinner or whatever. Not wasted, the animal goes for human nutrition just like any other (non-Jewish and non-vegetarian) people eat it.
The USA imported 250,000,000 pounds of lamb and mutton in 2017
We exported 5,900,000 pounds of lamb and mutton last year.
A bit more than one little lamb sacrificed.
IMHO, not the best meat to eat, but if you're hungry, it's great!
