Yes. Pretty sad isn’t it?
1) There is nothing beautiful about a sodomite male prancing around anywhere, particularly in a place dedicated to the worship of God.
2) Yeah ... it was "spririt filled". The "spirit of the world" was quite evident in it.
I think it's wrong NOT to criticize it.
Dance in the abstract should not be a problem. The kind you describe is wrong for different reasons.
It occurs to me that I missed the real problem ... The purpose of Liturgy is to direct the congregation’s attention toward God. Not toward the ministers of the liturgy. For this reason, I do not favor even putting a choir front and center, as many communities do. Dancers, front-and-center choirs, vocally gymnastic soloists, even highly dramatic preachers, all tend to draw attention to themselves rather than to He Whom we gather to worship.
So I disagree. In the context of liturgical worship, dance in the abstract is inappropriate.
I once attended a church in which occasionally had a brass quartet accompanying the congregational singing.
They played from the back, just so they weren’t the focus. My wife played in the quartet and loved doing it that way.
Fag dance...
Exactly what I’m talking about.
Did you mean WELS Wisconsin Synod?
Maybe you haven’t seen and heard what I’ve seen and heard. Or else maybe music is not your thing. Don’t be a Pharisee. Let people worship as the spirit of God moves them. He knows their hearts.
You haven’t been following what I’ve been saying. But that’s OK. I used to it.
I heard don’t judge and don’t be a Pharisee. (Which flies in the face of what Scripture teaches, but OK)
I disagree with it.
Scripture says “Be a Pharisee”?
Yes, I think you’ve hit on it. I abandoned the idea of liturgy when I left the Roman Catholic Church.
“Judge not that ye be not judged”? Now where the heck could that be from? Must be the Devil’s bible.
And yet here you are judging!
Liturgy, the topic of this thread, is used in the Catholic Church (both East and West), the various Othodox Churches, the Church of England (in its various forms), Lutheran Churches ...
The author of the OP is Lutheran. The original poster, IIRC, is Presbyterian ...
