Pope's September Prayer Intention: For Protecting the Oceans
Vatican News ^ | 8/31/19

Pope Francis releases a video message accompanying his prayer intention for September, which is that the world's seas and oceans may be protected.

In his prayer intention for the month of September 2019, Pope Francis invites us to pray that "politicians, scientists and economists work together to protect the world’s seas and oceans."

It has become the custom of Pope Francis to release a video message detailing his prayer intention for each month.

The full text of his intention is below:

Oceans contain the bulk of our planet’s water supply, and also most of the immense variety of living creatures, many of them are threatened for various reasons.

Creation is a project of love given by God to humanity.

Our solidarity with the “common home” is born from our faith.

Let us pray this month that politicians, scientists and economists work together to protect the world’s seas and oceans.

Hello!!!!!!!!!

Letter from a Catholic here to the Pope!!!!!

We don’t practice Wicca.

#### the earth.

Yeah God might be mad if we are a little too abusive towards it.

He’ll probably consider abortion and rape and genocide and murder and assault and cursing his name and men screwing men and people cutting their privates off and in general turning one’s back no Him a little higher on the list of sins.

Just one Catholic’s thoughts.

And the members of his “most-ignored” Muslim religion have now committed some 126,000 separate acts of terrorism and violence against Catholics, Christians, Jews, Buddhist and Hindu and their fellow Muslims since 2001.

But he prays for the ocean. For fish. Which tells you more about this pope and his advisors than anything else.

Amen, Ill Papa. SOMEbody has to have dominion over those damn things. ‘Course, you probably heard that from Someone else but want to make it sound like your idea.

not 126,000 murders, mind you.

ACTS. Many in which multiple and many people were killed.

Not 2 or 3.

But by all means, worry about catfish.

Just pray to Gaea, oh pretender pope.

You don’t even come close to believing in God.

I agree entirely that we are caretakers of our world, and as our world is a gift from God we have a sacred responsibility to be good caretakers. The same is true of our bodies.

That said, the US does a much better job of not overfishing our fisheries, not dumping things into our waters, and managing our resources than do most nations in the world. Our capitalism has created a prosperous nation that has lifted the standard of living for many other nations throughout the world - through access to our markets to sell their goods, training of their people in our industries and universities, financial aid, protection by our military, and unfortunately - by their theft of our intellectual property.

We played a huge role in rescuing Europe from tyranny, and putting a stop to genocide, and of stopping the march of Communism. If not for the US, much of the world would have fallen under the dictatorial rule of Communism - as had eastern Europe. The Pope should just look at the history of how Christians and all faiths have been treated in Communist nations, how religious freedoms were trampled upon, how the people had to try to worship in secret - in fear of persecution, and how in socialist Europe secularism and atheism have led to a cheapening of life and a move away from spirituality and meaning.

He should look at what's happening to Christians in China right now, and the restrictions put on them - even while the world watches. He should also remember that priests, nuns, rabbis, ministers, imams, and people of all faiths and religions are safer in the US than probably anywhere else in the world.

He should remember that the left murdered priests and nuns in Spain during the Austurian Revolution, and the Red Terror. He should remember that an estimated 12-20 million Christians were killed/persecuted under USSR dictatorial tyranny. He should remember that of an estimated 1200 Catholic churches that existed in the countries of the Warsaw Pact, only a few survived during Communism.

We could go on and on, factually, but suffice it to say that this Pope misses the point entirely. He has presided over a Catholic church mired in the guilt of having suppressed the truth about sexual abuse practiced by members of the Catholic clergy. He has never made cleansing of these horrors from the Church a priority, and has been immensely more vocal about the pseudo-science underpinning the anthropomorphic global warming scare than he has been about protecting innocent children from jaded clergy.

I, for one, have no interest in anything this Pope has to say, about anything. The old joke about ‘Is the Pope Catholic?’ is no longer a joke. He truly doesn't appear to be.

now he prays for fish.

I’m not smart enough to know if he is just a lousy, communist Pope or worse.

I do know he’s not teaching the right things and the Bible and local, Good Priests will have to do if and until the Vatican gets its act together.

First of all, and don't get me wrong, I have no problem asking for God to help us be better stewards of the Earth. Ecology IS low on the totem pole of things for which we should pray, however.

In the event this Prayer Intention isn't as much focused on the planet as it may be focused on shaming the West, the fact of the matter is that the ocean pollution, specifically plastic, is an Asian problem predominantly:

Indeed, the biggest offender is that Country with which the current Pontificate has recently become friendly at the expense of pius men who carried the Faith in darkness and under grave threat. If the Vatican REALLY was worried about ocean pollution, she could have made demands tied to better relations. Assuming no such demand was made, in a twisted sort of way, the Church is sanctioning tacitly ocean pollution.

The Pope’s concern is with this world. He doesn’t care about the next world, God, our souls, or the trials we face. He cares about this world... He is the Prince of This World.
