Not Peace but the Sword

In words that are nothing less than shocking, the Lord says in today’s Gospel:

Do you think that I have come to establish peace on the earth? No, I tell you, but rather division. From now on a household of five will be divided, three against two and two against three; a father will be divided against his son and a son against his father, a mother against her daughter and a daughter against her mother, a mother-in-law against her daughter-in-law and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law.

The words shock, but they speak a truth that sets aside worldly notions of compromise and coexistence with evil. In order for there to be true peace, holiness, and victory over Satan, there must be distinction not equivocation, clarity not compromise. Fire and water do not mix; you can hear the conflict when they come together: hissing, popping, searing, and steaming. One must win; the other must lose. Compromise and coexistence are not possible.

In this there is a kind of analogy to a surgeon’s scalpel. The surgeon must wield this “sword” to separate out healthy flesh from that which is diseased. Coexistence is not possible; the diseased flesh must be removed. The moment one talks of “coexisting” with cancer, the disease wins. Were a doctor to take this stance he would be guilty of malpractice. When there is cancer, the battle must be engaged.

Thus, in this great and cosmic battle, the Lord cannot and will not tolerate a false peace based on compromise or an accepting coexistence. He has come to wield a sword, to divide. Many moderns do not like it, but Scripture is clear: there are wheat and tares, sheep and goats, those on the Lord’s right and those on His left, the just and wicked, the lowly and the proud, the narrow road to salvation and the wide road to damnation.

These distinctions, these divisions, extend into our very families, into our most intimate relationships. This is the battle. There are two armies, two camps. No third way is given. Jesus says, Whoever is not with me is against me, and whoever does not gather with me scatters (Matt 12:30).

While it is common that honor for one’s parents and family love are in conformity with God’s will, nothing and absolutely no one can or should take precedence over the Lord. His reign is absolute in our lives. Further commentary will tend only to obscure, so I stop here.

Wow! I’m not Catholic, but I do love to read and hear truth!
This is it! It’s the narrow gate or the path to damnation.

Our spiritual weapon The Rosary.

This is one part of Catholicism that some non-Catholics do not go for. I don't know why either. The prayer is most simple and asks Mary to pray for us. We often speak to deceased family and friends and ask them to pray for us so it's not so unusual. Mary is our spiritual mother.

But I have OFTEN and OFTEN read and heard of the rosary as a spiritual weapon. I say at least one or two a day. It's not often that I am inspired to say more.
If I put off saying the rosary until later in the day, when I'm tired, the rosary relaxes me so much that I usually doze off. Lol. It's quite refreshing, though.

One of the stories about the Rosary.

A young lady was attending college in Florida and promised her mother that she would pray the rosary each night.

Well one night she fell asleep still holding the rosary and a serial killer came into her room after killing two other coeds. There was such a strong force that he could not penetrate the room and knocked the knife out of his hand. She was not harmed.

That was Ted Bundy. I think the story is in the video I posted.

The rosary is a weapon hated by Satan.

Perhaps non Catholics don’t realize about effective the rosary is.

Fr Don Calloway also tells a story of a man that was heavily involved in satanic worship and later became a Catholic priest. God works in wonderful mysterious ways.

God wants us to love and honor our parents and relatives, but He wants us to love Him more than anyone else. He deserves our greatest love and we need to give it to Him.

Read John Chapter 6 where Jesus tells us to eat His Flesh and drink His Blood for eternal life.

The Catholic Faith considers the Eucharist as the Real Presence of the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Jesus in the Sacrament at Mass. It is very special as a Catholic to receive and eat the real Jesus at Mass. There is more information at Catholic Answers.

Speaking of the Rosary, I found this:

The Tears Of Our Lady Chaplet

Read the final prayer of this Rosary.

It is what is needed now.

Been there, done that my FRiend. I am protestant, but I know heaven will be shared by faithful Catholics and protestants. Jesus Christ is THE way, THE truth, and THE life.

I hope that you are right as I know many good protestants and I hope we all meet in Heaven.

However, you realize that protestants are following man made doctrines that deny and exclude many of the teachings of Jesus Christ.

Also that in Gospel Chapter 6 of John, Jesus tells us we need to eat His flesh and drink His Blood for everlasting life. The protestant doctrines deny the words (Truth) of Jesus, probably because they are unable to give us the Real Presence of Jesus in the Eucharist.

How can one have true faith, if they do not believe the word of Jesus who is the Word made Flesh?

Yes, the Catholic Church has sinners, terrible sinners and many may not make it to Heaven. That is for Jesus to judge upon their death. The Catholic faith (as Jesus did) welcomes all sinners to learn God’s Truth and to change their ways.

VERY scary story.
Ted Bundy was one of Satan's helpers.

One doesn't think of that kind of evil these days. But, then, why not? Satan has seven billion humans to try to harm. When I hear of the horrors that unwanted (deformed, imperfect chidren) Chinese children go through (rape, torture, slavery) I KNOW that Satan runs rampant through that godless country.
