“This might be the very last live-stream of the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass that I can give. That is unfortunate, but, the ‘manner and tone’ of the people opposing us is just that vile and despicable...it causes everyone to cave, and indeed it appears to be the case here.”

Altman also explained, “You’ll notice the children are not here today. And the reason they're not here today is because of the ‘manner and tone’ of several vile and despicable comments and letters and emails and phone calls that were made both to the diocese and to my parish office after [Jesuit Father] James Martin urged his followers in public to contact us and complain.”

Trial by cannon.

For those who have not heard Father Altman, look him up. He is the strongest Catholic Preacher since Bishop Sheen. Father Altman is a man of faith who has the courage to tell the truth.

Statement From Bishop Callahan Regarding Father James Altman:

Our approach must never seek to divide, isolate and condemn.

Um, what do you think priests are supposed to do in regard to sin? The biggest failing of the Church is the lack of condemnation... Priests no longer preach hellfire, so what is the fear nowadays of mortal sin?

That being said it is not only the underlying truth that needs to be evaluated but also the manner of delivery and the tone of his message. Unfortunately, the tone Fr. Altman offers comes off as angry and judgmental, lacking any charity and in a way that causes scandal both in the Church and in society.

Ah, Bishop, so you claim in snake-tongue words that the "underlying truth needs to be evaluated", or, basically, you think the good priest is completely wrong in what he says, although you don't want to come out and explicitly say so. You simply use his "angry and judgemental tone" to cover the fact that you disagree with what he says. And as for his "tone", well, see the paragraph above.

I am applying Gospel principles to the correction of Fr. Altman. “If your brother does something wrong to you, go to him. Talk alone to him and tell him what he has done. If he listens to you, you have kept your brother as a friend. But if he does not listen to you, take one or two others with you to talk to him.” (Mt 18:15-16). I have begun this process, not in the bright light of the public arena, but as the Gospel dictates, in private.

Really? Rebuking him in a public statement is not at all in the public arena? The fact that this letter is public knowledge belies the idea that you "talked to him alone". So much for your so-called biblical principles!

Canonical penalties are not far away if my attempts at fraternal correction do not work. I pray that Fr. Altman’s heart and eyes might be open to the error of his ways and that he might take steps to correct his behavior and heal the wound he has inflicted on the Body of Christ.

And this is a big part of why so many Christians have fallen away from the true faith. Why is the Church not standing for Her basic principles? Fighting for Her own Warriors that speak the truth? Why would I support a Church when She can't even support the few priests (PRIESTS, not even bishops or cardinals) who come out with true Catholic beliefs? What does the USCCB do to fight Planned Parenthood? Or is that fight completely manned by nothing higher than priests and laypersons? When's the last time you heard about as Bishop being arrested for fighting for his beliefs? Sure, Strickland is in the news decently often, but what about anybody else?

Yes, I am aware that Cardinal Burke and a couple other Cardinals, most of the African priests, are fighting for the faith, but my points above are mostly aimed at these US's leadership heirarchy.
