Pope’s clampdown on Latin Mass praised as ‘prophetic,’ ripped as ‘cruel’ (CATH CAUCUS)

ROME – Pope Francis’s decision to restrict celebration of the pre-Vatican II Latin Mass, effectively rolling back wider permission granted under Pope emeritus Benedict XVI, is being met by predictably mixed reaction from Catholics around the globe, with some praising the move as prophetic....

....liturgy expert and editor at the New Liturgical Movement blog Gregory DiPippo said that when he heard the news, he was filled with “profound sadness and dismay at the idea that the pope would so cruelly mistreat so many of the faithful.”

Papal biographer Austen Ivereigh, meanwhile, praised the pope’s decision on Twitter as, “A historic day. A bold move. A prophetic act.”

“Benedict XVI told bishops at the time of his 2007 Summorum Pontificum that it would be reviewed if it created problems. Francis has consulted the bishops of the world and they say it has. What was meant to foster unity has been used to sow division and opposition to Vatican II,” Ivereigh said.

....the move is seen by enthusiasts of the Latin Mass “for what it is, a declaration of war, and a statement of intent to drive people who did not fit into the pope’s ideological vision of the Church out of it.”

Catholics who prefer the Latin Mass “have been sent the very clear message that they are not welcome or wanted in the Church, and that the Holy See now formally rejects all idea of undertaking their pastoral care,” DiPippo said. “However, they are as a group very well catechized, and know that the Church is not the Pope’s personal plaything which entitles him to maltreat the faithful in this fashion.”

On Friday the Vatican published a new motu propio, meaning an addition to Church law issued on the pope’s own authority, titled, Traditionis Custodes...

...The pope’s decision, he said, “will unquestionably divide Catholics further. I think that even many of those who have no particular sympathy for the traditional liturgy or its follows will be repelled by the callous lack of pastoral charity which this change evinces.”...

"I think that even many of those who have no particular sympathy for the traditional liturgy or its follows will be repelled by the callous lack of pastoral charity which this change evinces."

Maybe so, but if I was an objective observer I'd be repelled by something even more fundamental.

With all the disorder and diabolical influences facing the Church and the world today, THIS is what moves Francis to issue a formal proclamation?

This is something out of a bad comedy skit. It's functionally the equivalent of firing a loyal, faithful employee for leaving spilled coffee in the office kitchen, while refusing to take any action against the unproductive misfit who walks around the office with his shmekel exposed all day long.

With the onset of the one-world government, this Pope is attempting to position the Church to be the one government-sanctioned church. In order for that to happen, much has to change to suit the whims of the globalists....including this.
He’s diabolical.
How they plan on dealing with Islam is a whole nother story.

The very least Francis could be doing is besides raising theological questions on the assertions made in the Islamic codex (which is their code of observance and behavior) known as Sharia, and should be defending the Chinese Catholics.
Ignores this http://www.theusmat.com/islamandfreewill.htm
and also seems to ignore what Our Savior went through to establish the new covenant , Then Plays with suppressors of the faith
The Vatican under the command of Pope Francis is busy rebuking ownership of firearms for personal protection to the cheers of Islamic followers as well as decrying attempting any evangelical conversion of islamists plus suppressing followers of the pre Vatican 2 liturgy form including the latin mass But when it comes to other forms of mono theistic beliefs such as the One World Abu Dhabi Movement. Francis refuses to say one word disclaiming and decrying what practice adherents of the Islam code Sharia not only claim, but truly believe that God has authorized them to any evil means using force or decption used to convert is justified as well as kill those who refuse to submit to their version of Gods will .

“WHY would he want something so steeped in history &, I would imagine, really beautiful to experience gone?????”

A devil-possessed person does not find the Latin Mass “beautiful to experience”. Instead, he experiences disgust and revulsion, if not physical pain. Like direct sunlight on a vampire.

Never forget that “Papal biographer Austen Ivereigh” once bullied his girlfriend into aborting their child. That tells you all you need to know about his character and credibility and agenda.

Communists hate beautiful things. They want them replaced by ugly things. It has been their pattern for over a century.

Oh my gosh! Are you sure? Hard to believe. And really a bad sign if Francis chose someone excommunicated to do his bio.
