NEW YORK, N.Y. — A new civil sex-abuse lawsuit has been filed against former cardinal Theodore McCarrick, also naming Opus Dei priest Father Michael Barrett, who is currently a pastor in the Archdiocese of New York. “My youth, my childhood was robbed from me,” said the plaintiff, who filed the lawsuit anonymously, in the case during the online press conference. He said he was “abused by two people involved in the Catholic Church, and this is Father Michael Barrett and Cardinal McCarrick, who wasn’t a cardinal then, and he should have never become one.”

The crimes are alleged to have happened 1974-1978. How would anyone go about proving this now? Is proof no longer necessary?
And once the accusation is made, how could the case be defended? No witnesses, no memories, few records.... Statutes of limitation exist for a reason but were eliminated in these cases for political reasons. A cash cow for the plaintiffs bar, especially when the defendant is a known scoundrel like McCarrick. Of course, it is the Church’s own fault for harboring and facilitating so many homosexuals. Yet, it is not the “Church” who pays but the generations of believers whose donations funded the assets that will pay the settlements. Meanwhile, Pope Francis fiddles.
A Catholic priest is presumed guilty. Look at Cardinal Pell, Bishop Nienstedt, Bishop Finn... all innocent, all scapegoated and persecuted.
We all know about McCarrick... for years. Father Michael? That shocks me. Why the hold up?
Well, keeping the fags scoured out of the priesthood would have been the obvious foolproof pederasty prevention method. It’s too late for that now, isn’t it?
Benedict’s letter made it clear homos were not to be admitted to the seminary. He was outright defied in writing by the Jesuits, and apparently ignored by most others. Not sure the real reasons, anyone?
