We must cling to the faith of our ancestors, never put down our rosaries, and attend Mass where we know we should. The numbers will only grow as Pope Francis continues down this path against tradition.

A fine, clearly written article. Right up to that last sentence. Is it hopeful? Or is it whistling past the graveyard?

Yep. The Pope is Catholic only insofar as it doesn't conflict with Marxist dogma. And the points of agreement between the two (mainly hierarchical structure) are very narrow indeed.

If the Vatican II popes have been so bad, then it seems that we have lost apostolic succession. I know there are people who believe that so long as the Catholic Church goes through the motions of electing new popes that they are popes at least in "name only", but I don't think Jesus meant for there to just be officeholders, especially officeholders who seem to be taking the Church in the wrong direction.

If the essayist is suggesting that we need to oppose the "papalism of the spirit of Vatican I" is he suggesting that the bishops should be more collegial as is the case in the Orthodox Church? Are we now encouraged to migrate to those diocese led by bishops who are faithful to the true magisterium?

The Church is supposed to be a sturdy ship in a storm-tossed sea. A refuge for those who wish to enter the Kingdom. However, lately it appears that it might be safer to get into one of the lifeboats and risk the waves.

The commies really were not friends of the environment, minorities, or the LGBT crowd that Francis is celebrating. They certainly weren't ecumenical in tolerating alternative views.

Most of the nonsense that Francis is on board with is associated with the Critical Theory that came out of the Frankfurt School. They were Marxists, but they had seen that the political and economic tacks they had taken weren't getting the outcomes they intended.

So they decided to focus on the culture and social structure. At that point did they cease to be Marxists? I don't believe that they all secretly agreed to advance their philosophies just to undermine the morale of the West. I think they really believed the nonsense they were spouting was generally good for the West. I think Francis agrees with them.

It's much more complicated then just Marxism. The gay mafia, the actual mafia, the Freemasons, and the Soviet Union have always been trying to undermine the Church from the outside and inside. It's a miracle that there still is something resembling the Church still standing.

Communist ideology rots every culture and individual that absorbs it.

That is very good. Is that yours?

Yes...It is more complicated than any one ideology. IMO, the love of power is the basic evil that stalks humanity...secular or spiritual...Ok...I'm a cynic; but I see most leaders being more concerned with power, as opposed to what they must espouse to gain it.

I think it belongs to history. Many FReepers have said this, in one form or another, over the years. A quote attributed to Churchill is one of my favorites:

Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery.

But the real problem is that Bergoglio is not the pope because B16 did not abdicate. It was/is invalid. Every pope in succession from antipope Bergoglio will also be an antipope. Terrible times ahead.

I’ve not been impressed with Pope Francis for quite some time. Now, for me anyway, it’s about finding the right priest that can help me on my path.

Might even try an orthodox Catholic church.

As soon I heard that the Pope’s seminarian formation in South America was tied to Liberation Theology I was disappointed.

“Communist ideology rots every culture and individual that absorbs it...il Papa is no exception.”

How could it be otherwise? All leftist thought, from the limousine liberalism of a Sean Penn to the murderous horrors of Mao, Stalin, and Pol Pot, is of and from Satan.

Power, we do see the love of it everywhere, greater than money. As saying goes, power is the greatest aphrodisiac.

I posit that it's somewhere in between. Just like most Christians I know are cautiously hopeful, but resolved to not just roll over and play dead re: the leftist NWO agenda. We can fight against the "fundamental transformation" the left has planned for us all... while acknowledging that biblical prophecy shows that they will continue their agenda until Christ returns.

Also a good point. Some of the worst examples of environmental degradation came out of the iron curtain countries when the iron curtain fell. You would end up in the gulag if you tried to impede that type of industrialization "progress". The America hating left can embrace bitter enemies like the Islamofacists and the LGBST crowd because they share a common goal.

Meanwhile, you see certain Freepers spew vitriol against pro-American groups such as Mormons, Japanese, Jews and others because of relative trivialities.

I certainly don’t disagree with you. But the very last sentence in the article implies growth. Certainly there will always be a steadfast remnant. But growth I’m not sure about.
