I’ve read through the Bible a number of times, and have been a constant student of it all of my life. When I read it for what it says, not what I’m told it says, then I come to the SAME conclusion.

I just encourage everyone to not be a sheep. Read the Bible for yourselves, and don’t assume verses from various passages are directly related to each other. Also, read it understanding that it had to make sense for their time, not necessarily ours. We’re reading mail that was literally intended for someone else, although it was certainly preserved for our benefit. However it isn’t always a benefit when we misapply everything as though it was all written directly to us.

Actually, for some, for their own protection the Heavenly passed out the ‘Spirit of slumber’…. If the Heavenly Father has place a soul in slumber there is not one thing anyone but Him can do or say to lift/remove that sleep state. And given what some claim comes either their traditions or their fashioned and massaged doctrines, there is a whole lot of sleeping happening..

I do believe that just before the tribulation God will show “mercy” on many of the old and weak and cause their life to end so they will not suffer. They will “sleep” and wait in the grave until the soon return of our Savior, Jesus Christ, and then be resurrected. So, I agree with you.

I meant all causes — war, famine, execution, etc. I’d say it’s difficult to separate into discrete categories due to frequently overlap - Zwingli is often cited as a martyr, for example, but he died in battle in the 2nd Kappel war, after proposing to starve the Catholic Cantons in Switzerland after they refused to join their Protestant counterparts in the ongoing war against Milan. Martyr, war casualty, victim of his own attempt to starve others? Depends on your interpretation.

If you’re referring exclusively to execution for heresy, then you’re going to have to prove that the Catholic Church killed “millions upon millions” in that manner. The fact is, YOU can’t, because it’s nonsensical and false.

Correct. All of the executions due to all of the Inquisitions in history add up to somewhere between 10 and 12 thousand. That's over roughly 400 years.
