There are arguments for both positions. Note I said arguments.
You are correct in that there are many who claim to offer salvation, that lead us away from God.
However, as I understand the Bible, there is also going to be an eventual entrance of one person who will lead the world away from God, promising the world salvation.

Well your argument seems to fall apart completely upon a simple reading of 2 Thes. 2, especially if we combine that with a reading of Revelation and note all the correspondences.
I think when most use the term “Antichrist” the are actually referring to the Beast of Revelation.
This is a staggering lack of biblical understanding. Dividing the Anti-Christ with the spirit of anti-christ is a fool’s errand at this point.
I’d start at “What is the Gospel?” by Greg Gilbert. Easy read and you can get it online immediately along with study guides.
I would not wait too long because there is an imminent rapture watch for tomorrow, Oct 8, beginning at 11:15am EST and lasting for 80 minutes thereafter.

People have the free right to select the path they think will lead them to Heaven or Hell. I still think that people that don’t believe in Hell might want to consider getting down on their knees every night and pray there is no Hell ... just in case.
The Beast (the AntiChrist) and the False Prophet are thrown alive into the Lake of Fire when Christ returns to set up His Millennial Kingdom. So he a real live individual.

For a bunch that claim Peter’s keys they sure have spent centuries smoothing out the very parts that explains that ‘key of David’…. Is it really important that we know the detail of who it is or that it is an individual or a bunch of individuals?
The big question is WHY is God telling us about the antichrist, NOT who it is.
