Mary knew the way....................
Yes, I’m sure she did, but the scripture just says ‘Judean Hill country’ which is very broad area. It could have been a short day’s journey or a week long trip.
“It also says “Mary got ready and hurried to a town”, but doesn’t name the town, so I conclude that it wasn’t very far away from Nazareth............
The timing here reveals that Yeshua was actually conceived at Hannukah, and born at Sukkot (Feast of Tabernacles).
Not being familiar with times of Jewish holidays, since they vary from year to year of the Lunar calendar, please point out to me the reasoning for that conclusion...............
Great job, Dan, in finding so many windows on this lovely visitation.
Thank you!
'Twas easier than I thought, thanks to the trick you taught me of finding the relevant Wiki article. I've been meaning to thank you for that, dear Alba the Magnificent!
Thank you very much for posting these beautiful paintings and may God bless and keep you for doing so!
Glad you enjoy them. Thanks for your well-wishes.
it is amazing what these artist can do with glass and a little lead
I can’t help thinking that God likes them so much He watches over them, century after century.
you got me smiling so big that my brain has locked up
He watches over you, too.
more than we can possibly know
and in all ways
The book of Luke reveals the amazing prophetic fulfillment of the Feasts in the births of John and Jesus. While John’s father Zachariah was visited by the angel Gabriel, he was ministering there as a Kohen “in the course of Aliyah. That division of priests ministered in the eighth week of the biblical year near the feast of Shavuot, or Pentecost. After Gabriel told him that God was about to answer his prayers for a son, he returned home and Eglizabeth conceived.(Luke 1:5-25) So it seems that Yochanan was conceived at the time that would mark the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. Remember he was filled with the spirit from his mothers womb. Six months later Gabriel appeared to tell Miriam that she would be the mother of Yeshua (Jesus) and that “she who was barren is six months pregnant. This would be at the end of the month of Kislev, around the time of Hanukkah. So is is more correct to say that Yeshua was conceived at Hanukkah. But here are the amazing implications of the timing of these conceptions: A full term pregnancy is 41 weeks and Luke tells us that Elizabeth was 6 months pregnant, that is27 weeks, the exact time from the course of Abiyah to Hanukkah. Therefore it is reasonable to conclude the following: John was conceived at Shavuot, and nine months later, was born on the first day of Pesach (Passover), and circumcised on the eighth dat, according to the Torah. Gabriel told Zachariah that John would go forth in the power of Elijah (Luke 1:17). To this very day Jews at Passover have a special custom to “look for Elijah” during the Passover meal because the Bible predicts that Elijah will be the prophet who will herald the coming of Messiah. The month of Nisan when John was born is the first month of the Hebrew Year. Since we know that Yeshua was conceived six months after John, we can count six months from Passover and we come to Sukkot, the Feast of Tabernacles. The feast of Passover/Unleavened bread begins of Tishri 15, and six months later, the feast of Tabernacles begins on Tishri 15. It is an eight dat festival. So Yeshua (Jesus) was born on the first day of Sukkot, a Sabbath, and circumcised on the eighth day of Sukkot, also a Sabbath. (Luke 2:21). The Gospel of John tells us that the “ Word became flesh and dwelt (lit. ‘tabernacled) amongst us, and we beheld his glory, full of grace and truth.” May we all have the grace to follow the Truth, and to meekly lead others to it as we approach the coming of our great King.
Thank you for that amazing timeline!........................
