——>Discussing theology and doctrine is not *hate*. Name calling and personal attacks is what can easily fall into that category.

Like someone calling another a cultist, generally speaking?

I was referring to posts in the past, perhaps I wasn’t as precise as I could have been. It’s sometimes difficult to convey subtleties on a comments board.

VERY valid point on the “heretics”, though I see more anti-Catholic threads than the other way, I *do* still see both. Nearly daily. Not claiming victimhood, just observing. And doctrinal error is subject to interpretation and translation errors.

I personally have experienced the unbridled wrath of some posters that definitely went beyond the pale, hence the use of certain terms.

It’s nice to have a disagreement that remains civil. Thank you.

Not by me, and I can’t presume to speak for others or comment without specific examples so I can’t speak to your specific experience on this. What I have seen here (not by you) is where some anti-Catholics twist a quote from the Catechism or wrench it out of its context (much like what is often done with Scripture) and isolating it from the rest of Church teaching, insisting that it implies something that it doesn’t. Often this is done as part of a massive copy-and-paste post in which it is impossible for a respondent to go back and effectively rebut every point. This is a pretty common tactic.

So the hidden church. Right. No historical record, just Protestants trying to justify Luther’s rebellion.
That is just dumb.
History is clear that Luther broke away from the Catholic Church.
No hidden church popped up and said “Finally we are free!”.
But tents of thousands of denominations exist now, all teaching something different as Christianity.

Oh please, come on, just read Fox’s Book of Martyrs. The Waldenses in France, the Albigenses, the Bartholomew Massacre at Paris, all speak to Christian people were in existence while Rome tried to exert its power and influence. That’s just three examples, there are many more. So get a clue.
