OBSERVATIONS:
[1] There seems to be a significantly reduced number of Protestant Threads (KJV Only being the exception for sure) in the FR Religion Forum.
[2] There seems to be a reduced number of FR Protestant posts in the Religion Forum.

Is the concept correct?

And the changes in Mormonism, about such topics as
God, they were insignificant, right? Or did you guys not tell him that Smith went from a relatively orthodox understanding to the apostate doctrine that God started out as a man and has an infinite number of gods over him?
And the change from plural marriage as essential, to plural marriage as inessential, to kicking out anyone who does it, just kind of slipped his mind?
Or how about racism? A very similar change there, except for one thing. We don't think any of the racists in our history were prophets.
Assuming this person even exists, which I doubt.

The concept that there is but "one God" is correct.
To: A.J.Armitage
Joseph Smith went from essentially no more understanding than any 14 year old boy might have concerning the nature of God, to an understanding the transcended the greatest knowledge and understanding of any man who has ever lived.
He did not come to that understanding instantaneously. He was taught and give truth gradually, line upon line.
You must remember that ten years elapsed from the time of the First Vision to the founding of the Church. During that time, revelations were received, the Book of Mormon translated, and his understanding opened.
Really, this is common knowledge for any high-school seminary student in our Church. I'm rather surprised that you try to make an issue of it.

We don't think any of the racists in our history were prophets. You are assuming of course that Joseph was a "racist." This is false.
The church did not for a time extend the priesthood to those who had Negro lineage, but this was true throughout history up until that time, and is no more "racist" than the fact that at one time, no one could hold the priesthood who was not specifically of the tribe of Levi in Israel.
You can use modern political correctness to manufacture insidious intent if you wish, but it only works if you remain ignorant of world history.

My wife was Catholic up until she was 36 years of age, after which she became a "Mormon."
She never had hard feelings against her traditional faith, but her primary observation is that most Catholics really don't delve into the study of scripture, preferring instead the rote catechism of the faith.
That might be fine for some, but for others such as she it was deeply unsatisfying. She feels that she has found the answer elsewhere.

He understood nothing except how to deceive.

Odd for someone who was told by God Himself not to join any of the churches, eh?
Really, this is common knowledge for any high-school seminary student in our Church. I'm rather surprised that you try to make an issue of it.
If what Joe Smith taught at the end of his life was true, then the church Smith founded was as apostate as the "sectarians" when he founded it.
Regardless of what "any high-school seminary student in our Church" thinks, that's an issue.

I don't recall any LDS dressing up in White Sheets burning crosses on the Lawns of those they dispised be it for being Black or Jewish or ever practiced slavery.
Today this same KKK Mindset need Not hide behind White Sheets, they can hide behind a Computer Monitor and doing the same thing to religions that those same lovely folks in White Sheets did ages ago!

You are assuming of course that Joseph was a "racist." This is false. Then why did he write in one of his fabrications that dark skin was a curse for the Lamanites, and in nother one that black people are cursed because of Cain?
And Joe wasn't the only racist "prophet".
You see some classes of the human family that are black, uncouth, uncomely, disagreeable, sad, low in their habits, wild, and seemingly without the blessings of the intelligence that is generally bestowed upon mankind. --Brigham Young
You can use modern political correctness to manufacture insidious intent if you wish, but it only works if you remain ignorant of world history.
So there was a time when saying "Not only was Cain called upon to suffer, but because of his wickedness he became the father of an inferior race," as Joe F. Smith, another "prophet" did, wasn't racist?
If I say that because of his wickedness, Joe Smith founded an inferior religion you wouldn't go screaming about anti-Mormonism? (But then again, if I said that, I'd be right.)

Mormons are Tritheistic or Polytheistic so they are not worshipping the same God. But nice try at spin anyway on their part.

Joe Smith invented heresies for himself. He understood nothing except how to deceive. So you say. There is no evidence that he was a deceiver, of course, and his people were always loyal to him and to his memory.
He was the greatest man born since Jesus Christ, in fact, and a prophet of God.
You aren't the first to "call good evil," nor the first to attempt to persecute and defame the prophets. Your attempts to do so are a trifle, and the Prophet's wonderful legacy continues on.
PRAISE TO THE MAN!
To: A.J.Armitage
Oh, he never "Attempted to join the Methodists". As a CHILD, he studied all the many religions during the revivals in the "Burnt Over District," attended many of their meetings and read their tracts. But he was never satisfied.
Interestingly, his testimony concerning those revivals were disputed for YEARS by people such as yourself, and then the historical research found that, indeed, this period of religious revival HAD taken place (hence the recent term "Burnt Over District," as the time and locale became known as one of the greatest "excitements over religion" in American history).
Just like your vile slanders right now, about his "attempting to join the Methodists," his naysayers were found to be liars.
Why don't you give it up? You've failed.
PRAISE TO THE MAN!
To: A.J.Armitage
Because a dark skin WAS a curse for the Lamanites.
This is as "racist" an ancient Israelite saying that "gentiles are rejected of the Lord." At that time, the gentiles WERE rejected of the Lord.
Truth is truth, and isn't beholden to modern conceptions of "political correctness."
