"I wanted to run screaming from the place!"

Perhaps some screaming would have been called for.

I hope that wasn't during a Mass.

"I've often wondered if I did the right thing all those years ago...I think I did."

Yeah, you did. It would have happened even if you hadn't driven her, and you persevered to the end.

I reject both the label "trad" and the label "neo." I am an orthodox Catholic. Period.

I second your rejection. To be orthodox is to be traditional.

"Promoveatur ut amoveatur."

Never saw that before, but you can bet I'm gonna be using it.

1.I wonder why there isn't more focus on the incredible gift Christ gave to the world when He established the framework and set the foundation for a visible Church on earth?

2.I wonder why they don't make their work easier by using Vatican documents that state the definitive teachings of the Church rather than continually revisiting and rewriting everything and creating more confusion.?

It would seem if they looked at the Vatican as giving universal policy statements to the world and viewed themselves and other national conferences as responsible for developing procedures to implement the policies in their territories, they would alleviate some of their workload and expenses. They could start by implementing Ex Corde Ecclesia and Ecclesia Dei.

3.I wonder why they have not progressed any further in cleaning up this scandal?

(a)They need to be more forthcoming about the problem of active homosexuality in the priesthood and at the same time gathering and disseminating information about the relatively low rate of pedophilia.(b)They have a lot of work to do to fix this problem so that they can regain some moral authority. At this point we have no idea of the sexual preference of the offending priests, the types of abuses that occurred, the sex of the victims, the frequency of the abuses, the number of priests who never offended again, the possibilty that satanism was involved and a plethora of other facts that would help the Church and society in America regards these behaviors.(c)The study the National Committee on Child Abuse commissioned does not ask many questions that will answer those questions and that won't be ready until late this year or early next.

4.I wonder why they don't use a combination of the old Baltimore Catechism, the new Catechism of the Catholic Church and some of the Pope's encyclicals to structure the teaching programs for children, adults and converts?

5.I wonder why they don't have a better more rigorous review of the books that are being used in all of the teaching programs in the Cathollic schools?

6.I wonder why they continue to allow sex education in the schools without presenting the entire class to the parents first and allowing any parents to opt their children out if they want?

&.I wonder why they continue to allow innovations and experimentation in the Mass?

7.I wonder why they don't allow the priest to face the east if he chooses, and insist that the priest face us?

8.I wonder why they don't set up a committee to see how bishops could organize to better utilize all the paid staffs that duplicate work in the parishes and in the chancery staffs?

9.I wonder why they don't apologise for all the misinterpretations that led to the ripping out of altar rails and kneelers and the removal of statues and the wreckovation of so many beautiful churches that our parents and grandparents paid for with hard earned money and work to honor God?

10.I wonder why they don't pray and ask all Catholics to join them in a prayer that we all conform our consciences to the mind of the Church?

I am just a Catholic.

Whether it is priests, teachers, boy scout leaders, police, coaches, or other so-called male role models in the community, I know from personal excperience that young boys molested by homosexuals rarely tell anyone else what happened. They tend to blame themselves, for years.

I agree with you the number of homosexual priests, not pedophiles, is far more than 300

Question: "Why are Death, Judgement, Heaven, Hell called the Four Last Things?"

Anser: "Because those are the last things you will ever hear in a sermon."

It has been vandalized five times in 12 years.

I'd be willing to bet your Parish could find 5-6 old guys, unable to sleep, who'd be willing to sit early morning hours in the church armed with a Rosary and a Louisville Slugger to prevent vandalism.

We are always telling one another we have a duty to help help the elderly. Well then, charity begins at home. Cancel some of those questionable trips taken by the Chancery Posse and give the money to the "Men willing to protect the church against enemies Ministry" and put back to work some of the men "downsized" by multinational corporations and help then lead dignified lives protecting something Sacred rather than standing in line at the unemployment ofice.

Tell the insurance company to go to one of those places identified as one of the "Four Last Things." Make them guess which one you are referring to.

Hope you enjoy the meeting

Whatever happened to: 1) Art. 36 (...preserve the Latin); 2) Art. 54 (...Faithful should be able to say or sing...in Latin); Arts. 112-117 (Musica Sacra defined, utilization of Latin in Musica Sacra, preservation/fostering of the Treasury of Musica Sacra, teaching Musica Sacra in the seminaries and convents, Chant's pride-of-place, and the completion of the typical edition of Chant --currently one cannot find Chant/Latin Hours updated, e.g.--

Maybe that's more than 10 questions. BTW, having a lonesome class at CUA is not exactly 'widespread.' Having NAPM (still regarded as NAPALM by respectable musicians) offering liturgical guerilla-warfare classes against the Church's instructions) is not reasonable and is counter-the mandates of VatII (above.) No excuses should be accepted.

5)Finally, can you guarantee that the accountability standards put in place to deal with clerical sexual abuse will remain? And, will you broaden those standards to encompass diocesan and parish finances, and decisions made by bishops and priests that are not matters of faith and morals?

Good stuff, Deacon.

Our parish has Perpetual Adoration in the chapel of the old convent. Its not a great neighborhood; there was a murder a half block away from it a year ago.

Still, we have little problem filling the 24 hours a day, six days a week. My wife goes every Wednesday morning from 3:00 to 5:00 am. I go Tuesday evenings at 10:00pm.

If a parish the size of ours, with only several hundred families, can pull this off, surely a huge parish of several thousand families can do so.

If not, it bespeaks a deep seated spiritual pathology in that parish.

No, it was not during a Mass. I would have left, believe me, but this event was during a retreat sponsored by my employer.
