I need help with some WW2 info

I need help finding some historical information. I have a band called 'Wayside Riders', and was told that there was a WW2 Airborne squadron that went by that name. Since we arbitrarily came up with this name, and I love the military, I would love to find out about these men (if this unit really existed.) I have done some searching on the web, but have not found anything. Any help would be appreciated.

Help should be on it's way. Told the folks over at VetCoR about your need. They're good folk over there.

Glider Riders
Ghost Riders
Rough Riders
Ruthless Riders
Pale Riders
Easy Riders
Night Riders
Dawn Riders
Can't google any Wayside Riders but that doesn't mean that a squadron didn't have the name, it's just not well known if there was one.
Good luck on your music career. Stop by and read the Foxhole once in awhile if you love Military History. Our button is on FR's home page.

Try
http://www.persom.army.mil/tagd/tioh it's the website for army department of heraldry--which is the section of the army's military history department that covers mottos and insignia, which should also cover any of the USAAF mottos for WW2.
The motto isn't in my ASMIC publ of mottos, so it is not currently in use. But www.asmic.com may have some other sources for you.
Finally, you might try the Army Military History Institute at Carlisle Barracks.

Morning jakkknife.
The name isn't familiar to me and I wasn't able to find any info on any units using "Wayside Riders" as a unit nickname or callsign. It may have been an "unofficial" designation.

During WW2, as a boy, I remember the small roadside benches with a wooden roof, they were especially made for Gi's to wait for a ride on main highways. They were refered to as "wayside riders'.

They were refered to as "wayside riders'.Even if I can't find proof of an airborne unit with this name, this bit of information is just as cool. Our poster artist could use this imagery for a show poster.
Thanks for the info!
