 OR HOW TO EAT WELL IN A FOXHOLE During the Vietnam war Brig. Gen. Walter S. McIlhenny son of the 2nd company president of McIlhenny Company from his experiences with C-Rations as a soldier during WWII came up with the idea to send soldiers copies of the Charley Ration Cookbook filled with recipes for spicing up C-rations with Tabasco Pepper Sauce wrapped around two-ounce bottles of Tabasco Pepper Sauce along with a handful of a P-38 type can openers all in a waterproof canister. What follows will be a copy of the cookbook.           |

Did you know that Alaska has an official State Insect? No, it's not the mosquito! Or even one of our beautiful butterflies. It's an attractive and beneficial dragonfly, called a Four-spotted Skimmer. That decision was made in 1995, after some strenuous lobbying by students from the elementary school in Aniak. Although it's not one of the biggest or most colorful, it is a common dragonfly, and widespread in the State.
FWIW, dragonflies also make great bait for bass fishing.

It's been raining most of the night and all day so far, it's effecting my waste water system. (I live in a mobile home). Tubs not draining right, toilet over flowed this morning. I'm more than ready for it to quit.

I only got to experiencec the 'fun' of Traypac and MRE's.
C-rats had been fully eradicated by 1996 when I signed up.
However, they invented a new horror called 'Jello' and it was quite bad.
No joy. ;-(
I went to the orange borg since I hadn't seen one at the blue borg last night. I actually found it. Our local orange borg seems to cater to decorating more the actual systems, so I don't have luck finding stuff often.
Anyway, the joint still leaked, so I did plan B. It's holding fine.
And you confirmed the "Oops, OH CRAP" effect as well.

You've opened old wounds. I haven't seen or thought about a P-38 since I ripped one off my dogtags, when I first was issued an MRE in 1982.
I met the guy who invented the MRE, once. If he hadn't been a full colonel, he would have ended up as a bloody pulp.
lol. I didn't open the wounds, alfa6 did the thread today. Sam still has his P-38 on his key ring.
