Keep our Troops forever in Your care

Grant them a safe and swift return...
Bless those who mourn the lost. .
FReepers from the Foxhole join in prayer for all those serving their country at this time.

U.S. Military History, Current Events and Veterans Issues
Where Duty, Honor and Country are acknowledged, affirmed and commemorated.
|
Our Mission: The FReeper Foxhole is dedicated to Veterans of our Nation's military forces and to others who are affected in their relationships with Veterans. In the FReeper Foxhole, Veterans or their family members should feel free to address their specific circumstances or whatever issues concern them in an atmosphere of peace, understanding, brotherhood and support. The FReeper Foxhole hopes to share with it's readers an open forum where we can learn about and discuss military history, military news and other topics of concern or interest to our readers be they Veteran's, Current Duty or anyone interested in what we have to offer. If the Foxhole makes someone appreciate, even a little, what others have sacrificed for us, then it has accomplished one of it's missions. We hope the Foxhole in some small way helps us to remember and honor those who came before us.

Military Christmas Orders
To: All Retired Military Personnel Subject: Official Command Visit
This office has been informed of an official visit by Gen. Santa Claus to this base on 25 December. The following directives will govern activities of personnel during this visit:
1. No creatures will stir without official permission. This will include all native mice. Special stirring permits will be obtained through the orderly room.
2. Personnel will settle their brains for a long winter nap prior to 02:20 hours. Uniform for nap: pajamas, cotton, light drowsing, with kerchief, general purpose.
3. Personnel will utilize standard ration sugarplums to dance through their heads. This item may be picked up in the orderly room.
4. Stockings, wool, cushion sole, will be hung by chimneys with care. Necessary safety precautions will be taken to avoid fires. Individual sections will submit stocking-hanging plans to Capt. Kringle by 08:00 hours, 22 December.
5. At first sign of clatter from lawn, all personnel will spring from their beds to investigate and evaluate cause. Immediate action will be taken to tear open shutters and throw open window sashes.
6. Volunteers are needed to drive one sleigh, miniature, and eight (8) deer, rein, tiny, for use of Gen. Claus. Driver must have current rooftop license.
7. Gen. Claus will enter all sections through chimneys. Sections without chimneys will draw a Chimney Simulator from Link Services for use during ceremonies. Requests must be submitted in triplicate prior to 20 December.
8. All personnel will be rehearsed in shouting "Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night." This shout will be given upon termination of Gen. Claus' visit. Uniformity of shouting is the responsibility of all section chiefs.

God bless and keep all veterans and their families. I am not a vet but my father was in the Navy in WWII, then in the Air Force from then on (Korea through Vietnam). He taught me a lot about respecting our troops and valuing our country. He was a good, thoughtful, hard-working man, and he gave all us kids a good start in life. He taught me how to be a dad, if not a soldier. I wish I had followed in his footsteps into the service, and I respect and admire those who have, and I wish them all a Merry Christmas.

Hey wheres the icing for those rolls It's on the bottom of the pan. We put in a nice layer of butter with a brush, about a 1/4" of brown sugar/cinnamon mix, then the rolls and bake till golden brown. Mmmmmmm
I think this is the first time in about the last twenty years that I did not particapte in the making of the rolls. I was the one who had to roll out the dough as it is pretty stiff.

Thank you Puddleglum. We are grateful for your father’s service. My mother was in the Navy in WWII, perhaps they crossed paths. ;-)
Merry Christmas.

We are doing well, been busy the past couple days which of course is not unusual, It’s Christmas.
We are baking a turkey to munch on, not really doing a sit down dinner.
Merry Christmas and enjoy your Holidays.

I wonder what other songs with lyrics have lasted that long. There are a lot of them out there. You just have to find the right churches. You have to avoid the politically correct mainline churches and the 'happy-clappy' trendy evangelical churches. The Wesley brothers, Newton, etc, are still in steady use. The Catholics even include Martin Luther's "Ein' feste Burg" in their American hymnbook.
