My great-to-the-seventh grandfather Pierre left Saintonge, France in 1699, married Elizabeth in England, and sailed to Staten Island that same year.

My father stayed in the Pacific during WWII on Saratoga (CV-3).

France: what can one do with a black hole but put it in your rear-view mirror?

Can it ever rise to warrant the epic heroism of the warriors who went there to liberate it. . .and stayed?

Evening PhilDragoo.

My great-to-the-seventh grandfather Pierre left Saintonge, France in 1699, married Elizabeth in England, and sailed to Staten Island that same year.

One of the smart frenchmen. ;-)

My father stayed in the Pacific during WWII on Saratoga (CV-3).

Thank you Phil. I'm sure you are very proud and we are very thankful.

I looked up the USS Saratoga CV-3 this morning, what a proud history she has during WWII. She received 7 battle stars for her service in WWII as I'm sure you know.

She lost lives during her WWII history and suffered damage many times and seems to have been in most of the major battles and in the end made many trips transporting nearly 30 thousand troops home from the Pacific.

Valient service by her and her men. Reading about her this morning I am again reminded of the ultimate sacrifice given by so many.

Thank you as always for prompting me to learn more.
