Evevnig PhilDragoo.

Thanks for the pics of the Tarawa. I am looking at them a lot differently now, looking for the places Snippy and I were. Just knowing we walked that deck and stood on that bridge and in the Captions wing on the island makes the pictures seem so more real.

Hospital Ship MERCY

CVN John Stennis, we actually got within about two blocks of her but figured the Marine Guards nearby might not like us taking a picture

Another shot from the dinner at Claim Jumpers.

Snippy tried to get a picture of the "Visitor's Badge" while we were on the Bridge.

Love the pics!

Now why aren't you asleep? LOL! We're patient. We know you're running on a sleep-deficit right now. (and believe me, I know what that's like. lol)

Hi Light Speed.

Thanks I have to admit this was the most fun thread Shippy and I had doing.

That's a nice modelling job on that diorama.

Oh, what a wonderful trip. Thanks so much for the report and the pictures, Snippy.

I trust you guys had a great time. Getting ready for Thanksgiving and Christmas? Hehehe.

Looking good, Sam. ;-)

Missed you both!

LOL! if you're like me when I get tired, you're spending more time correcting the typo's than typing a post. Right? hehe!

Heck, I had to make two corrections in that first sentence! Time for me to head to the bat cave soon, myself. LOL!!

Get a good night's rest and we'll see ya tomorrow. (2 more corrections. sheesh! Thankful for "preview". lol)

Good morning Victoria.

We had a great time and meet some really fine people. Snippy and I both felt honored. I have some more great memories to add to my collection.

hehehe....one reason it takes me so long to make a post. I sit here all cross-eyed this time of night, staring at it to see if it's ok. If I let myself get in too much of a hurry it would probably look like...

"ekd imrsi jndnee womrr d sko] >edur"...

You get the drift. LOL!!!

It was difficult to keep secret but at least we had each other to discuss it with, we really wanted to share it with our Foxhole family but decided to make it a surprise.

Hi Gator Navy. Believe me, you were one of the top people on my list I wanted to tell ahead of time about this trip but SAM and I kept our goal and kept it between just the two of us so we could surprise everyone.

I swear the Navy only recruits good looking people with wonderful personalities. You would have thought SAM and I were famous they way they treated us. Yet they are the ones we went to thank. This was the best trip ever!

Thank you Phil.

I thought of you and your family history of sailors while we were there and all our Navy folks that visit the Foxhole. A better time couldn't have been had.

Go Navy!!!

Thanks Light Speed. We were honored to meet the Tarawa crew and so happy to be able to spend time aboard the ship and time with a wonderful group of Americans volunteering to defend us. Wow!!

I can't express how much I appreciate all your help in making this come true.

As much as I love sailors, I couldn't have imagined not having my ground pounder friend there!

Thank you SAM for working hard at making sure we could experience this together. I was so happy to have you by my side for this wonderful experience and wouldn't have wanted it any other way.

For all you who wondered about James and the Cake: Here's the story from James himself.

No i must say the cake never made it back to the ship! I was so stuffed in the car that i could only act like a little kid and take finger bites! However after we left the restraunt we went to a friend of mines house and the fate of the cake was decided after i stood up out of the car and realized it had been 20 minutes and i really wanted to eat it! It was perfect harmony between me and the cake however there is always that certain thing that has to happen in every situation that just makes it slightly unperfect! As i was sitting there enjoying my double layer cake my friend asks if she can have a piece! Now if you cant tell i love food and dont mind giving up a bite here and there but a whole piece just sounded bad! But being the nice person that i try to be, i let go of my selfishness and gave my very last piece of death by chocolate cake to a friend! I figured if someone could as kind to give me a whole shoe box size cake i could spare a piece! Although i watched her eat it like dog that lost his bone to the big dog next door! Anyway, now you have the story behind the cake! It was great!

Here's a picture of the entire cake, like James describes on slice takes up a showbox (Size 13 shoes)

What a sweetheart James is. Twenty minutes pass by and he's drooling at the dessert! LOL!

That was such a perfect idea you had of sneaking away from the table to get that for him!
