GSA are also OK with lesbian leaders.
It must be nice to be more enlightened than the great unwashed.

So glad this organization is still around. It's been years, but my kids have such great memories of their participation.

Are you in a rural area?

No actually I'm in the suburbs of Detroit, but homeschoolers seem to see the many benefits of 4H. I am willing to drive a while to get to the meetings and my girls love it!
Also, I can stay with them and not have to pay money to volunteer (like GS).
Tiamat is here in MI and her daughter works with Llamas in 4H. My delicate little flower of a six year old threw up at a field trip to a farm because of the smell. I think live animals are out for us!

Hi there!

4-H is just the best thing you can do for a kid! My daughter is mildly autistic and having to talk to the judges about her projects and her animal is just GREAT for her!

If you need a hook-up, LMK.

Hey, netmilsmom, there are LOTS of kids who don't do an animal in 4-H.

Wouldn't you know it, though? My kid uses an nimal I'm allergic to!

LOL!

I've been looking at the American Heritage Girls as an alternative for my daughter. Anyone know anything about them?

Oh it was SO embarrassing the first time it happened.

We were at a show and i got "volunteered" to pet the llamas as an obstacle for the Public Relations part of the competition" ( Llamas get used a lot as therapy animals. they need to be able to deal with strangers petting them if they are used for that) So Tia spend about an hour, petting about 50 llamas, one after the other.

My eyes swelled up and my nose ran, I broke out in a mild rash and I kept sneezing ( Which startled some of the llamas) And I couldn't LEAVE the ring!

I'm okay if I am out in the open with them and don't handle them too much and if I remember not to rub my nose.

On show day, I take an antihistamine and wear long sleeves. Fortunately, Caitlin is not allergic to the critters.

That post was uncalled for.

Called for. Absolutely called for. Sometimes reality sucks. :-(

Frankly, someone needs to call the sheriff and report the crimes taking place in that building.

...Girl Scouts used to... be [a] good, solid, moral organization to which our children could belong. It seems that the Girl Scouts has decided that is not the path on which they wish to continue.

They've chosen the new path of "lesbian farming" in cooperation with planned parenthood.

What about the argument of "my daughter's troop is OK"?

I'm a Brownie Scout leader. Every troop is different, and you need to know your leaders well. As long as I'm involved, then I'm not very worried about what is going to happen to my daughters. I'm friends with the other leaders. They are both heterosexual moms still married to their husbands.

We have a nice troop. My girls are getting a lot of it socially. One of them has a severe speech problem, and she tends to be shy. This has been one way of getting her around other girls.

Although I think that anyone's opinion is fine when it comes to his/her own child, I would rather give the now 10.00 each that it takes for me (to be a leader) and my daughter to participate and give it to a worthwhile organization. There are many good groups out there that are not so liberal nor money grubbing. Let's just talk about the scholarships to the GS. If a child comes to my troop, GS will pay for her 10.00 registration. Most times the leaders will end up with a gift certificate from someplace that will cover her sash. Who covers the dues? The cost of the crafts? That same leader who has paid 10.00 to volunteer.
I wouldn't mind this if the GS had the values I do, but to supplement them for their liberal agenda? NO WAY.

I can fully appreciate your distaste at the topic, and the other freeper's comment.

But dicussing it here - in an effort to ultimately educate others of the depravity taking place in public schools on our dime, is necessary. The ruination of schoolchildren is the tragedy; and discussion of it is a necessity.

People have had their heads in the sand too long.

????

I was replying to YOUR comment about pitying people who are rendered uncomfortable looking at pornography meant for high school kids with her husband.

A comment with the word "pity" in it is ok for you, but not ok for me?
