All that and the term "Munroe effect" isn't even mentioned.

Guess what, the RPG2 does not have a rocket motor. It is launched from the tube and has no sub-stainer rocket motor. Actually an RPG is a super caliber recoilless rifle that does not have rifling.
The RPG7 does infact have a sub-stainer motor but the venturis or rocket nozzles are at the front of the rocket motor. It is difficult to shoot on a windy day because it wants to crab into the wind.
I never saw a RPG 7 projectile that had a self destruct feature although I am sure they could have added one to it without any problem. I have disposed of many RPG7 and RPG2 projectiles that have been fired.
In my opinion they are not as good or effective over all as the M72 LAW or the 90mm Recoilless Rifle that use to be in the inventory. The article is not very accurate.

Yep it wouldn't work at all without the shaped charge effect.

Any postings on the THERMOBARIC shoulder fired weapons here? Used in the Russian campaign against Grozny, I assume they are devastating. Pics of firing would be cool here.

. The article is not very accurate.Worth repeating. No discussion of shaped charge, no differentiation between a rocket, recoiless rifle and RPG. Lots of errors of omission.

Awefull things to have fired at you...all they have to do is detonate behind you or alongside of you while you think you are safe behind cover...of a tree or rock...
On the other hand a lot of them (at least the 60s versions) tended to blow up on the operator
(We had a couple captured we kept in our firebase bunkers..but though I shouldered it...I didnt have the guts to fire it...our LAW rounds no problemo..the chicom junk...no thanks)

And that first black & white picture identified as a "cache" of "rocket propelled grenades"...are they not really mortar rounds?

Can SOMEONE pose how the Monroe Charge is fused???Some articles appear to indicate "Base Fusing", and some, which might be disinformation, indicate "center of the 'V' in the wine glass".
This is more than theoretical...B. J. Clinton's mentor, Caroll Quigley, clamed that "beam riding" [Shortwave to a target at night] was a Brit invention, yet we now know it was Nichtbein [sp?], a Kraut invention.
Similarly, claims have always been made that the very first V-2 rocket was fired at London, whereas the British expert on Rocketry has ALWAYS maintained that ANTWERP, Belgium, was the first target, out of HATRED for the Churches playing [via the Carillion] the ZIONIST National Anthem, HATIKVA!!! Not really, TOW is an operator guided missile, not a fire and forget rocket. Range, effectiveness and the size of the "BOOM" are all much greater for the TOW. I've played a bit with both, along with the LAW, Dragon, and the AT-4.
And despite what they told us, man portability of the TOW is an amusing idea, a lot like lugging around a four-deuce mortar. Yeah, you can do it, but...

are they not really mortar rounds? Most likely. It is possible that they are some odd RPG's UXO, but you are right they are likely mortar rounds.
