FWIW, I personally agree. Universal health care seems to be inevitable, and it will be the first priority of the next Dem elected president, whenever that might be. It's mainly a matter of how it's going to get structured.

Universal health care seems to be inevitable,

To the left socialism and open borders seems to be inevitable. If they win elections it will be. So will homosexuality be normal. The USA will settle down and join the great European society and we will all live in peace. FWIW, you are caving in too easily.

I have to agree as well. We've allowed our health care system to degenerate into a corrupt and inefficient system. It's no more capitalist right now than it will be when nationalized.

I'm starting to think that the prevalence of evil is incompatible with a free society - which will be unfortunate for America.

Be careful, the author has mixed two very different systems - National Health Care and National Health Insurance - two different animals. Which are you in favor of?

It does seem inevitable. I'm speaking from anecdotal experience, observing fellow workers in the work place. Just regular middle class folks like myself... one of the main complaining points is the cost of healthcare or that they should at all be expected to pay a deductable for visits.

Example, last year the deductable for a doctors visit on the corporate health care (ours is through United Healthcare) jumped from like $15.00 to $25.00. If you could have heard the squealing you would have thought you were close to a nearby pig slaughterhouse..

I've kind of thrown up my hands at this point. Even one of my BIG, and I mean BIG, BIG, BIG heroes (Newt Gingrich) the architect of the major scalebacks in the size and scope of excessive spending in the mid-90's has joined with Hillary on this. I don't think Newt would do something he doesn't believe in sincerely -- even Limbaugh has said this.

The best we can do is try and educate our fellow citizen on the ill's of Federalizing more and more private sector business and tasks. (shrugs...what the hell do I know) :)

I agree. I don't see how the present health care model can survive, however, I don't favor the universal health care model either. A compromise would be politically impossible.

"FWIW, I personally agree. Universal health care seems to be inevitable, and it will be the first priority of the next Dem elected president, whenever that might be."

A Republican President with a Republican Congress is spending $530 Billion on "free" pills. Somehow, I get the feeling that universal(ly bad) health care is coming no matter what. Our only hope is that the Canadian and Brittish health care systems collapse entirely to serve as a warning to us about just how bad the idea is.

I agree. There's no other alternative, IMHO. Here in Maine, decent Health Insurance is unaffordable for the middle class working people. And, health care costs are outa sight.

I agree. I dislike intensely the idea of government run healthcare, but I am very afraid that it may be inevitable. Government is so involved with it already.

Medicare might go bankrupt in the next 8-10 years, and people will be screaming for Mama government to come and help.

I am afraid you are right. The citizens are like lemmings, following the socialist mantra that will lead us all to Nirvana. Just like Social Security and Medicare, it will become one more entitlement for which we will pay trillions.
