Europeans are not that inhibited about sexuality. And the French will just ignore the latest official decree.

Something else the French Muslims will have to burn cars over.

indecent clothing "could have led to temptations and dangerous behaviour on the banks of the river."

Nature abhors the vacuum. As decadent populations sink into the oblivion other peoples are replacing them.

Ya know, if our decadent lifestyle bothers them so much, WHY DO THEY GO THERE?

I've never understood the draw of riverside sunbathing, particularly when the ocean is not that far away.

"could have led to temptations and dangerous behaviour on the banks of the river."

SAVE THE BANKS OF THE RIVER!

Never mind the population temporarily inhabiting them.

Defending the decree, city hall sports official Pascal Cherki told Le Parisien that indecent clothing "could have led to temptations and dangerous behaviour on the banks of the river."

Isn't that why there are burqas?

this so-called "Paris"
city somewhere in Europe.

I find some of the comments on this thread hilarious. If France is becoming "islamicized" for restricting topless sunbathing and g-strings in Paris, then the U.S. is a theocratic Muslim dictatorship.

The city police will be enforcing the rules, and anyone caught baring too much flesh risks a 38 euro (26 pounds) fine.

Are they looking for volunteers to measure the amount of exposed flesh?

I'd sure hate to see how the measurements are defined.

Shalom.

There's something about sunshine that causes French birds to shed their feathers.

I observed this phenomenon several times, most notably during a one week period when I was stranded for about a week at the Hotel Ivoire in Abidjan.

After a couple of days, I picked up a postcard with a picture of the Hotel's swimming pool and a barely camouflaged shot of several topless female guests. I sent it to my high school French teacher with a note reminding her that she once told me I would regret every moment that I screwed around in her class. That day, as I sat in a lounge chair in a tropical resort, surrounded by a horde of semi-naked babes, totally unable to attempt to pick any of them up, and recalling my teacher's earlier warning, I was forced to say to myself, "Self ... you know ... she's right."

My teacher prominently displayed the postcard on her classroom bulletin board from the day she received it until the day she retired.
