Section 245(i) Passed in Senate--House Will Vote Early Next Week
At the request of President Bush, the Senate passed S. 778, the Section 245(i) extension bill by unanimous consent on Thursday night. Section 245(i) permits illegal aliens who have established an employment or familial relationship while in the U.S. illegally to adjust their status with the INS after payment of a $1,000 fee. It also allows illegal aliens to avoid the State Department background checks for other immigrants coming from overseas.
As in previous years, the immigration lobby and now President Bush are trying to revive this loophole as a backdoor approach of amnesty. Many of those who have supported temporary extension of Section 245(i) are really after a permanent extension, thereby institutionalizing illegal immigration as an avenue for gaining permanent residence. This is manifest in the fact that S. 778 allows additional illegal aliens who were not earlier eligible for the provision to benefit as well.
House Republican leaders, under pressure from the Bush Administration, have agreed to go along with the measure the Senate passed. The House will take up the measure early next week, perhaps on Monday. Bush said this week that he would like to see Section 245(i) passed as a good will gesture to Mexican President Vicente Fox.
Under the compromise, the 245(i) program would be extended through April 2002, or four months after the Immigration and Naturalization Service establishes regulations for the program. The extension would apply to illegal aliens who meet the program's requirements by August 15 by proving they are related to a legal U.S. resident or have a job or the promise of a job in the United States.
What You Need to Do
Contact your Representatives (Capitol Switchboard 202-224-3121) and tell them you are opposed to an extension of Section 245(i).
Talking Points
Section 245(i) Encourages Illegal ImmigrationIt sends the message that it is OK to break the law as long as you can pay $1,000 to the INS.
Section 245(i) Upends U.S. LawCongress in 1996 declared that those who overstay their visas or are otherwise illegal aliens should be barred from legal entry into the country for three or 10 years depending on the extent of the violation of U.S. immigration law. Section 245(i) allows illegal aliens to evade this penalty. Section 245(i) Harms Legal ImmigrantsThose applicants patiently staying in their home countries awaiting an immigrant visa, as U.S. immigration law requires, will be forced to wait even longer.

We dont have to win the Hispanic vote. We just need to get closer to 50%. My friend, Blacks and Hispanics are growing at a much faster rate than Whites and in the not too distant future Whites will be less than 50% of the population. This is not because of immigration. It's a result of birth rates. If Republicans and Conservatives are going to prevail in the future we have to become more than just a White Guys party. Let them the DEms have their problems with a 95% black vote which supports all kinds of social programs and fruit cake policies like reparations.
If we are successful in making the Hispanics more party independent like the Asians who are true independents, then we will be able to be competitive in future races. If we are not successful and the Blacks, Hispanics, Gays, and Women all vote together for liberal Dems, than the country will go down the tubes.
BTW, Bush is not doing this so these voters will vote for him in 2004. Its much more long term than that. But its a start.
Don't look now but the house has already said it will go along with the senate bill.

This is from this article and I have read it in other articles. The house will roll over for this.

"Home Grown" Americans did those jobs before, and will do them again if the pay and conditions are not Third World. And I won't mind paying a little more for my lettuce, burgers and clean toilets when we send the Mexican invaders home. Because I'll be paying less in taxes, breathing cleaner air, dealing with less traffic, and feeling a little safer on my streets.
Why is "xenophobia" considered a bad thing? 200,000 of human evolution has hardwired the fact that strangers are usually trouble into our skulls. Ignoring your instincts is the fastest road to personal extinction!
OK. I admit it. I'm a sucker. I'm a chump. I voted for the jerk. There is only one political party now - the The Republicratic Demopublican Party.

It's because of immigration. Culturally assimilated US-Hispanics don't have as many kids as the stereotypes would lead you to believe.
I haven't noticed that. There are some immigrants who we probably need, who are setting up good businesses that pay good wages and benefits. Many legal immigrants are no better-no worse than native born Americans. Many illegals are not enterprising at all, they have no education, no job skills, no language skills. Hispanics have a 40% illegitimacy rate and 40% high school drop out rate, obviously many are great hard working conservative people, but the numbers certainly show many are not.
Its these sorts of things that infuriate/inflame me......George W.J.Bush will suck up to foreign leaders making demands......and the attentive, discerning, alert, Amerikan elector only needs to be bought off with a few pesos!!!
Senor President Arbusto....que es muy importante..Presidente Fox o stupido citizens de los Estados Unidos?
To those groups fighting since the 1940s to change our immigration laws and who now foment "hate Speech" laws I say thanks so much
I have observed both those who are hard working and those who aren't, but that isn't the question IMO. The question is are we going to reward those who disregard our laws. Those who support this say yes. Are we going to have a sovereign nation. Those who support this say no. You can't have a sovereign nation without borders.
How anyone can consider themselves to be a conservative and support the destruction of this nation is beyond me, but I'm sure they claim to be conservative.
Support the law. Support the Constitution. No amnesty under any name!

Bush seems unable to stand up to Fox and say no to any of his demands. Fox has the weirdest plan of making the entire SW USA under the jurisdiction of Mexico by giving dual citizenship to only those from Mexico living there, they'll be voting in both the US and Mexican elections, culturally the SW will be Mexican but they'll be entitled to all the US social programs.
One thing I've noticed reading this thread. All those making attacks with name calling and insults don't have anything in their profiles. Some of these people have been members for several years. Yet no flags, comments, links, nothing.
Just seems kind of strange to me. Don't know what if anything it means. I've noticed that real conservative freepers always seem to have something in their profile especially links to articles they think are worth reading.
