Consider this list a rough draft off the top of my head. I probably missed dozens of issues and desires, I haven't yet condensed my mail into a wish list.

One problem -- Inability of JohnRob to admit he lost. :o)

No problems seen on this side so far, bro.

Umm, don't forget that we still can't put up kick ass backgrounds and sounds on our profile pages.

For the time being, there can be plenty of distinction between posting a public reply and sending private replies. The posting program makes use of style sheets but the mail program does not. If you customize your style sheet, the posting page can be made to look radically different. Right now style sheets are implemented only as a technical preview, and are far from a polished feature.

Have a look at Freeper George W. Bush's style sheet for an idea of the possibilites.

You may also wish to read the thread where FR style sheets debut.

John,

Is there a way to change the nickname without changing the rest of the registration? Currently the change requires new registration.

Sometime a person may get tired of the nickname or it may be inappropriate type or whatever.

"More distinction between posting a reply and sending a private reply."

Why not make the links different colors (or fonts)?

...

I noticed that the blockquote wrapper seems to have fluttered on and off and on and now seems consistently off. Will this be its permanent condition?

... Misc. Requests:

It would be nice to be able to edit a post after it's sent. Failing that, it would be nice to be able to delete a post (one's own post, not posts of others).

...

Larger message composition boxes. Hard to shoehorn stuff through a keyhole. (ex post facto mixed metaphor alert:))

YES! More space -- lots of it -- between PREVIEW and POST buttons. I see you just did that while I was trying to post this. ;-)

How many letters will we be able to fit on the "TO" line? (I was going to type "How many characters ... " but I know I'd get some pretty interesting replies.)

YOU SURE DO A BANG UP JOB. MUCH THANKS.

Perhaps it would do making "if the clutter's worth it" a toggle switch issue so folk could tailor some features to their preferences?

THANKS FOR YOUR LABORS!

It seems to me that it might minimize a bunch of us beginners (and 'overly proud of our anemic html knowledge') with html types making cluttery, troublesome fools of ourselves IF

You offered 3-5 basic types of style sheets; backgrounds etc. for the short-on-html-skills to choose from a menu with thumbnail samples.

Might cut down on the trouble of expreimentation/learning curves from those of us longer on courage than horse sense or skills.

WOULD GREATLY appreciate more verticle space in the posting window--wider would be nice--but more verticle is more important to me.

FWIW, I think the changes are fine. Committees rarely make great products; individuals do. Some of the suggestions I've read are nitpicky or strange. Don't forget what happened to Danny DeVito's character on The Simpsons when he let his brother Homer help design a car.

John, I'm using a WEB TV, and contrary to using a computer, there is no "spell check" available when posting a reply on FR.

Is there anyway you could incorporate a spell check system into FR?

First, Thank you for all your work to improve on an already great forum.

Second, I like the post and preview being seperated, but have you considered making the post button RED to make it even harder to make the mistake?
(I don't know how hard [or easy for you O Great Web Wizard] it would be.)

I done tole ya...

Submitting articles (or reading them) in Netscape 4.xx, you get "?"s with distressing frequency. The "?" symbol replaces the " < " and " > " symbols in tags, and renders all tags and formatting useless.

This used to be a "once in a while" problem; something has changed and it is now a serious problem. If it isn't fixed, my access to FR from my work PC will be essentially lost; Netscape is the "standard" where I work. At home, I use IE and seem to (so far) not have any problems.

Return of the E-mail field on replies. I am deciding if it is worth the visual clutter.

Please reinstate the email field.
It is not "visual clutter".
It is less obtrusive than having me put "Go Pat Go!!!" in the actual reply field on every post.

Go Pat Go!!!

Is this (a program to allow Freepers to maintain a personal image gallery for their use in postings) making any progress?

I have a problem... When I click on a thread that was posted from the NY Times, the new window doesn't open up. It locks up explorer and doesn't let me close it. Then, if I open up a new window, and start looking around again, and leave the locked up window open, after a while(sometimes a long while) it just unjams or something, and the thread will open, and the latest posts unjams too. Very wierd. And it seems to be only NY Times articles.

Another thing that would be neat is if you could see the "New mail message" thing inside a thread, like at the top when you refreshed or something, so even during a long heated argument, you could see when you get new messages.
