ZENICA, Bosnia--Herzegovina -- Hundreds of foreign Islamic extremists who became Bosnian citizens after battling Serbian and Croatian forces present a potential terrorist threat to Europe and the United States, according to a classified U.S. State Department report and interviews with international military and intelligence sources.

The extremists include hard-core terrorists, some with ties to Osama bin Laden, protected by militant elements of the former Sarajevo government. Bosnia-Herzegovina is "a staging area and safe haven" for terrorists, said one former senior State Department official.

Must follow link for the rest of this Los Angeles Times article.

An amazingly informative article that, since it is written by a very influential mainstream source, will serve any analyst of the Bosnian war as a powerful and convincing reference. A must read for anyone interested in either Islamist terrorism or the recent Balkan wars.

An article in "The Ottawa Citizen," last week.

Canadian soldiers in Macedonia reported that the terrorists there were not handing over their weapons, the only weapons handed over, were junk, not one of the weapons were operational, just as we suspected, the rebels has plenty of weapons to keep up the fight, and they will.

I am deeply disappointed about Izetbegovic, based on the contents of the article, but things seem to be improving, to wit from the article:

"U.S. and SFOR officials acknowledge that the new coalition government in Sarajevo has become much more responsive to fighting terrorism. A senior State Department official lauded Sarajevo this year for "working with the international community" in trying to clamp down on suspected terrorists.

"Since Sept. 11, Bosnia has launched an audit of passports and mounted a more intensive crackdown on those naturalized citizens who are wanted by foreign law enforcement agencies. After years of inaction, several international fugitives have been arrested this year and extradited."

I see nothing of importance to concern me as an American in that picture.

PS: Probably one less future Osama operative, too

It sickens me to see Iztbegovic Islamic fanatics shooting children for propaganda purposes.....and it especially sickens me that the bullets were bought with dollars provided by Clinton's Humanitarian Warriors

Well at least you have the guts to dump all that fake moral outrage the Balkans war that is so common amongst the FreeRepublic Balkan Front Club.

It was one side against another side start middle and end, people lived and people died, age and sex is immaterial.

YOU ARE WRONG. I am filled with moral outrage! but at the outrage of my country's (USA) diplomacy in Bosnia and in Kosovo and in FYROM and throughout the FYugoslavia and the Balkans these last 8 years. The only moral outrage I have a right to is the conduct of my country and how it deals with other entities.

That poor child could very well have been that honor student gunned down in Brooklyn over the weekend by a victim of mistaken identity by a gangster drive by (thanks again to Clinton not enforcing gun laws). A scene repeated in Los Angeles, Compton, Washington D.C., etc.

In this and all things I refer back to the classics and remember the words of a Spartan diplomat when told by a leading citizen of another Greek city that he was a friend to Sparta the Spartan replied "Be a friend to your own city instead".

The USA under Clinton got more Bosnians killed then would have in the normal course of events, and it seems after 9/11 Clinton's Bosnia policy set up the deaths of 6,000 plus Americans as well, with more to come.

I preferred post 14 to 17, 14 you were being truthful. post 17 was just too theatrical for my taste

Any way as you said probably one less future Osama operative, too, I have thought the same way about some people who got killed in military operations I took part in so I am not condemning you.

You don’t like the present Government of Bosnia, or Croatia, as stated in other replies, you backed one side against the other, problem was your government backed the side that you opposed, throughout that campaign.

As for reasons for the attack against America

/11 Clinton's Bosnia policy set up the deaths of 6,000 plus Americans as well, with more to come.

That is definitely up there with the wacky backy lot.

You can check my bookmarks for the Balkan links from 2 years ago when I said the exact same thing either for Kosovo or Bosnia.

I do not begrudge the existance of Croatia as a nation. I even think it has a right to exist. But for what it did (with US over and covert military aid) in Krajina I demand a correction and reckoning and as for Bosnia, may that fruit loop of a fake nation rot for all I care. I want my nation's troops out of there. Let the pretense end. Bosnia is not never has been and never will be a nation. Any continued attempt to keep it wole is a waste of my tax dollars and a waste of the training and talent of American soldiers.

Clinton's Bosnia policy set up the deaths of 6,000 plus Americans as well, with more to come.

What part of "Terrorists Use Bosnia as Base and Sanctuary" do you not get?

You do know that the 9/11 cadres recruited for Osama in the Balkans, no? Black Jade can get you the links.

re : Clinton's Bosnia policy set up the deaths of 6,000 plus Americans as well, with more to come.

What that reads to me is that because of Clintons Balkan Policy Osama Bin Laden struck at America.

And there was me thinking that it was because Osama Bin Laden and Ayman al-Zawahiri wants America out of the Middle East.

re : What part of "Terrorists Use Bosnia as Base and Sanctuary" do you not get?.

Hmm the same part that did not get it, that in America there were also Terrorists using Base's and Sanctuary during the 70s and 80s and part of the 90s.

You don’t like Bosnia, well that’s ok you don’t have to, and I enjoy the Balkan information/dis information and any other mation that gets posted here and I even give your thread a little bump now and then.

Views are polarised here not unlike most other nations.

As for your Government well it looks as if we have a long and happy partnership of putting the world to rights ahead of us.

As for Croatia 1994, well the Balkans was a very nasty place with lots of nasty people free to do what they want in the name of the greater this and greater that and even the greater other, I was out there I saw what went on and who did what to who, got my experience the hard way not sitting on my butt playing with my PC.

See ya later Glad I could bump this thread again

Tony
