I received a call from a friend in Glen Burnie, Maryland who noticed some suspicious behavior exhibited by her Middle Eastern neighbors.

Turn in your neighbors now! Could have been Osama in disguise. Plasic surgery and facial cream. Better yet shoot them then call the FBI. Get it on camera. Post it here. We'll win the fight on the domestic front. Sheeesh, this country needs a hero.

This is a fairly good idea but with the fbi being understaffed and overwhelmed people have to be careful of what their reporting and photographing you can get into some serious trouble photographing people without their consent

And lets face it there are plenty of paranoid people out there right now that will take a pics of things that are everyday and commonplace that the fbi are not aware of and that are not illeagle you may just bring the fbi into inoccent peoples homes for no other reason than paranoya

All im saying is be careful of what and who you photograph and for what reason and also remember if you do find for a fact that you have found a terrorist cell or someting of that matter DONT USE A FLASH OR ANYTHING THAT WOULD CAUSE YOU TO GET CAUGHT BE CAREFUL

Sounds like you are well prepared. If you have a cell phone keep it with you when you go out and make sure the battery is fully charged.

Good idea about keeping a camera handy. I used to be a photographer; now I keep a tape deck and microphone in the old camera bag. But there's still room for a camera. Thanks.

You have to be very careful though. The other day I was coming up on the left side of a Ryder truck, all white, and decided to take a peek at the driver. Dang, never make eye contact, he had to act a fool.

Just what would people with cameras be looking for to take snapshots? I am a little lost here.

Well, Don, do a little profiling in your head. If you see Middle Eastern looking types busy video taping around nuclear power plants, power stations, hydro-electric dams, fuel distribution tanks, Costco stores, etc. take a damn picture or two of the people and their tag number. If you 'feel' it was suspicious activity, notify the FBI and tell them you have pictures and a description of the incident. If you work in a 'sensitive' job, carry a camera around and if two or three Middle Eastern types come in to ask for a tour and to take pictures, take their picture, write down the date and any pertinent info you may get from their ID's, if they'll give them to you to look at ... but mostly, take snapshots to verify your dialog. There, now that wasn't so difficult was it?
