PC or Civilization, America Gets to Choose One

The events of Sep 11, coupled with recent threats to America's internal infrastructure (i.e. threats recently discovered to the Golden Gate Bridge and other major bridges in the Midwest), have placed America in the position of having to choose beteeen the insanity of "political correctness" (PC) and the very underpinnings of her civilization.

If America is to continue in the pursuit of PC then it becomes impractical to address the threats posed by terrorism. For example, rather than focus their investigative energies largely on the Islamic population, law enforcement personnel will be compelled to invest those energies in low-probability threats (e.g. church ladies). The result will predictably be emboldened terrorists accompanied by corresponding increases in the numbers of lost airplanes, bridges and skyscrapers - and a corresponding decrease in our level of civilization (which was already well into decline prior to Sep. 11).

Carried to its logical conclusion, political correctness can only lead to the type of desolate future one typically finds only in the minds of some science fiction writer - a future typified by ignorant savages living amongst the ruins of a once-great nation.

Dropping political correctness, however, involves setting the types of precedents which will mold our culture for many decades. And setting such precedents represents a committment to the continuity of civilization that is anathema to the liberal "elite".

America is forced into the position of having to make a choice between political correctness and continued civilization. Had the inmates not been running the proverbial asylum for so very long the choice would be what we used to call a "no brainer". Today, however, it's a coin toss.

I don't think that the Libs can drop political correctness; it's how egalitarianism express itself in a multi-racial/multi-cultural society.
I think 9/11 is going to be vey divisive, medium to long term. There will be no consensus when we make the choice re. PC.

PC is the methodology used to enforce the philosophy of moral relativism in policy matters. Pres. Bush's clear vision and ability to call evil, evil was a blow to moral relativism. They have not been able to silence or ridicule him with the usual PC tactics via the media, talking points on tv, etc. So it is a hopeful sign . . .

It is not overblown to connect PC with the survival of the nation. There has been so much written on the suicide of the West, and etc. Suffice it to say that moral relativism leads to the culture of death, because the refusal to recognize evil allows it to flourish and the natural consequence of evil is death . . .

Well, ordinary common-sense Americans do not have a death wish. It's time for all to refuse to be cowed by PC whenever and whereever it shows itself . . .

I think many people confuse "political correctness" and plain and simple politeness.

It is imperative to think before one speaks..... to make sure that what you are about to say is TRUE, is Logical and makes sense, and will not be unnecessarily hurtful to someone. (I say "unnecessarily" because sometimes hurting feelings cannot be avoided ie: It serves no purpose to say "all the murderers are Muslim" in the context of meaning to degrade Muslims ......... however when needing to identify the killers it might be appropriate to say "all the murders are Muslims". The difference being the intent of what the words will do. In the first instance they will only hurt someone, in the latter the words are for factual identification purposes.

It is commonly known that liberals do NOT think with logic. They think with "feelings". So they find it impossible to know the difference between hurting for mean and stupid reasons and hurting for valid reasons. (more examples: hunting deer for food vs. drowning little kittens for meanness, or using a gun to commit robbery vs. using a gun for protecting ones family ... I could go on, but you get the idea)!

So to the "bleeding heart" liberal we must be politically correct to protect "feelings".... no need to logically consider that doing so may be causing more harm.
