Mexicans who have lived years in Los Angeles should be legalized as permanent U.S. residents, the city's mayor said Tuesday.

Speaking at a news conference near the end of his two-day visit to Mexico, Los Angeles Mayor James Hahn said he believed Mexicans who have established themselves in California should be allowed to stay legally.

It's becoming quite apparent that the Republicans are going to have to bite the immigration bullet since they will never beat the Democrats when it comes to race.

Mexicans living in LA do have a legal status.

If they have visas they are legal.

If they do not have visas they are illegal.

""I think that what we are looking for is some kind
of legal status that needs to be recognized for people
who have been in Los Angeles for a number of years," he said."

Deportee is a legal status.

Ok. I see now. I just get in illegally and hide until I reach a certain amount of time then I am legal when some fool looking for votes comes up with this idea. Ok, so if I decide to run off to Iraq, Iran, China, Cuba or Costa Rica, I know what to do now. Thanks L.A. mayor for the ideas.

Oh, I get it now. If you're good at Hide n Seek, and can stay in the country long enough without getting caught, you'll be rewarded with citizenship. Sure, THAT makes sense.

It wouldn't surprise me in the least to find out that those
"illegal immigrants" are working hard every day of their
lives here, doing jobs that no "respectable" citizen wants to.......

Instead of sitting in front of a computer all day, spewing
disparaging and bitter remarks of people they don't know.

If they'll pay INCOME taxes like we do, learn the language like we do, respect our customs and culture as well as be productive citizens they are welcome. Anyone else is a parasite.

This just makes me so angry. This could not happen in any other country in the world. Why does it happen here? Where is it written that if you break the law, and remain undetected for a certain number of years, you are then not only not guilty, you are granted equality with the people who you screwed all those years. I can't help but wonder what Mr. Vicente has over us that we just keep being over backwards to please him.

Hahn's comments would be laughable if they weren't so pitiful. Like many business owners who left L.A., the reason we left was the high cost of taxes, high insurance costs, real estate and medical insurance not to mention CAL OSHA and workman's compensation. I won't even get into the waste, fraud and abuse that goes on with "medical practioners" recruiting illegals into their establishments so they could profit from non-existant medical claims. The figure of a BILLION dollars a year in fraud has been reported in the state of Califronia alone. And instead of helping the citizenry of Los Angeles, Hahn goes down to Mexico. Well L.A., I hope you like what your vote got you. Because you deserve every miserable day of it. Adios amigos. Semper Fi, Mike

What's so F***ing special about LA? Why do their illegal immigrants deserve some kind of special status? The federal government won't let the state of California have it's own marijuana laws, why should they let LA have it's own immigration policy? OTOH, the whole thing is just bass-ackwards enough, they might.

Our borders and immigration policies have become a national disgrace, and now a complete national security nightmare.

We either end this immigration "free for all" or wait to be attacked, multiple times for years to come.

The price we pay for this "immigration free for all" will turn American into a police state for you and your children.
