Man, you're a serious weirdo with an odd agenda.

Yes, I'm a weird person. Who isn't? An agenda? Of course. Doesn't everyone have one? Now, please don't tell me you don't as you post on Free Republic, A Conservative News Forum"

Following you around on such threads is so rewarding. I am impressed with this new song...I hear a bit of a David Bowie lick in there...I respect the lyrics and the POV NY is taking with them. He espouses freedom, justice, good over evil...even mentioning Satan. Hmmm. Makes me wonder what spiritual conclusions NY has come to these days. He would be one of very few famous folk that I would like to sit down and have a chat with.

After listening to the song and reading the chorus lyric, I contend that NY uses the line "time is runnin' out; let's roll" not only in reference to our war on terrorism and what Mr. Beamer did and said on 9/11, but also to comment on the situation of our disappearing liberties in general in the US and in the world. I think he sees what we see, Tiger. I think he might even be a Christian..."If you seek Me with all your heart, you will find me," the Lord has said...and NY always was a seeker.

PS - I love you. Can I be your "Cowgirl in the Sand"?

Bump!

This is great news. I got to see Neil a couple of years ago with the rest of CSN&Y. He absolutely stole the show. I referred to it as "Neil Young with Three Old Guys." That guy just rocked!

but also to comment on the situation of our disappearing liberties in general in the US and in the world. I think he sees what we see, Tiger.

I think he understands freedom and can see the loss of it better than most celebrities, lots better, but he definitely isn't very politically aware. To think that we need to give up some liberty to retain freedom and that we'll get it back later is doggoned naive. Doesn't shake my love for Neil and his music. Especially if he's rockin' with Crazy Horse.

He's a warrior of the heart not a political scholar. He yanks peoples minds out of stupor on both sides of issues. For instance, are these the words of a radical environmentalist? :

"Tried to save the trees
Bought a plastic bag
The bottom fell out
It was a piece of crap."

And are these the words of a liberal? :

"Ain't singin' for Pepsi
Ain't singin' for Coke
Don't sing for nobody
Makes me look like a joke.
This note's for you...

Ain't singin' for Miller
Ain't singin' for Bud
I won't sing for politicians
Ain't singin' for Spuds.
This note's for you....

Don't need no cash
Don't want no money
Ain't got no stash
This note's for you....

I've got the real thing
I've got the real thing, baby
I've got the real thing
Well alright now, yeah

This note's for you!"

And as far as pro-drug? Well, "The Needle and the Damage Done" should have smashed that idea in 1971. If it didn't then "No More", published in 1989, made even fewer bones about it. :

"Livin' on the edge of night
You know the sun won't go down slow
You don't know which drug is right
Can't decide which way you wanna go
I feel the way you feel
Cause not so long ago
It had a hold on me
I couldn't let it go
It wouldn't set me free
It wouldn't set me free
No more, no more, no more..."

I know you didn't critisize him, Sweet Thirty, but I wanted to point out while I'm back here that NY isn't that easy to pigeonhole. Besides, like a lot of artists, his songs are social commentary not political op-ed. Does anybody really want to hear George Wills sing and play guitar? Or even Rush? Limbaugh, that is.

PS - I love you. Can I be your "Cowgirl in the Sand"?

"This place heart is at your command", Love! "This 'note's' for you!" ; )

I think they were probably just taunting the crowd. I believe those two are solid Libertarians.

Parker, dressed in a garish stars-and-stripes suit, had his own surprise. He declared that he and Stone were proud Republicans. ``It's true,'' he added, apparently earnestly, as the audience wondered if the wacky comic was just joking.

But he also paid tribute to Norman Lear, the ``All In The Family'' TV producer who founded People for the American Way. He said the prickly and rotund ``South Park'' hero Eric Cartman was modeled after Archie Bunker.

The left-wing group that calls itself People for the American Way got the shock of its life when it honored peacenik Canadian rocker Neil Young - and he said President Bush's anti-terrorism measures were necessary.

Ok, I'm confused. When Neil Young (one of my all time favorites, I might add) sang "Imagine" on that fraud of a fundraiser, I took him off my favorites list.

Now he goes and does this, do I have to put him back on? Well, guess I do.

Welcome to the RIGHT side Neil. Keep on Rockin' in the free world!

That's what they told Jesse Ventura. Though he's no rocket scientist, he was smart enough to ignore them.

Don't kid yourself. There's a lot of dopey people in this country who simply worship "celebrities". If it had been some nobody instead of "The Body" saying the exact same things, he'd never have been elected governor in a million years.

Hell no, they despise liberals about as much as anybody at FR. Trust me.

Although, Simmons said that he'd create "a Palestinian state like that" (snapping his fingers) if he could.

ROTF Oh wait, that's what you're objecting to. Sorry, usconservative, we'll try to muster a little more decorum.

Guess I better not use that new emoticon I made up in the open forum, huh Thirty?

Matt Stone and Trey Parker, creators of ``South Park'' and the failed "That's My Bush!" sitcom, also had the whine-and-cheese GWLs (Guilty White Liberals) gasping when Parker said they were proud Republicans. ``It's true," said Parker, dressed in a garish stars-and-stripes suit.

Based on what I see on South Park, I believe it.
That show is great.

LOL, no way. Have you ever seen South Park? They rip the liberal mindset all the time.
