Huge consignment of Chinese AK-47s reached North East, indicate reports
Media reports on December 25 said Indian authorities have expressed serious concern following the seizure in Myanmar of a huge consignment of 1,200 AK-47 rifles of Chinese make and meant for being smuggled into India for use by the North East terrorists. Authorities believe that two similar consignments have already been smuggled into India.
Unnamed Indian officials said there was an understanding reached with China in 1998 according to which China agreed not to provide assistance to North East terrorists. They said, following the Myanmar-seizures, the Chinese have reportedly restarted supplying weapons to these terrorists. Officials also added that the government was also closely analysing the links between left-wing extremists, Naxalites, and China as well as connections with other organisations.
Maoists destroy Ministers house in Chitwan
Maoist insurgents on December 23 night set of an explosion and destroyed the house of Minister Chiranjivi Wagle in the Chitwan district. Wagle was the chief government negotiator in the failed peace talks with the insurgents. Besides, the insurgents also damaged the house of a sitting Member of Parliament of the ruling Nepali Congress, Eknath Ranabhatt in another village in the same district, official sources said.
Meanwhile, a woman cadre of the Maoists was killed and a large arms cache recovered during clashes reported on December 23 in Bhimapur, Bardia. Another report quoting the Defence Ministry said that the Army in Kailali and Rukum districts killed two Maoist insurgents on December 23 in search and cordon operations. 20 persons, including an injured insurgent, were arrested in the operations. Separately, nine more Maoists were arrested countrywide and guns, explosives and extremist literature seized from them.
I was going to ask where can we get them? NY? Boston? But it's a different northeast.
However, I'm sure the money from the sales of the guns did go to China's government.
One bomb can blow up a parliament, one bullet from the gun of a terroists can kill one governemnt official.
The point being here is, China is supplying guns to terrorists.

According to media reports, suspected left-wing extremists, Naxalites of the Maoist Communist Centre (MCC), abducted three Panchayat (local self-government) officials at Horedag under Ormanjhi police station limits, Ranchi district, on December 23. However, unconfirmed reports indicated that the incident occurred at Chandue. The reason behind the abduction is yet to be ascertained.
It doesn't take much to take a government official.

Well, what is that supposed to mean? Did they abduct them at the muzzle of AK-47's? And what if they did? Where they ChiCom AK-47's? And if they were, were they ChiCom AK-47's bought directly from China? I don't understand the reason behind this post.
Obviously, there is quite a bit about this gargantuan load of rifles that I don't know about. They might have been meant for a group that you would be sympathetic to. Even in the USSR, there were groups wishing for a source of weapons so they could attempt a coup.
Reference my posts on Chinese-made goods, and you'll realise that I'm not a ChiCom booster...I just think the news item is bullpoop. My first post only pointed out that the number of weapons wasn't 'huge'. And it ain't. Didn't mean to get any ears outta whack.
India and Nepal are having to deal with these groups, a cache of weapons of this amount is huge under the contex of terrorism.
One terrorist or a group of them can cause great chaos.
Pakistan and India are coming close to war because of Pakistan's/terrorists' actions and China behind the scene, instigating the chaos.
The weapon of choice among this group is the Chinese AK47.
ISI encouraging Nepals Maoists
(Saurabh Shukla) The Hindustan Times 17 June 2001
Nepal's Maoist insurgents are developing closer relations with Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence with the aim of carrying out a major strike against Kathmandu's shaky rulers, say sources here. The deputy chief of Pakistan embassy and the ISI station chief in Kathmandu were reportedly in Pokhara to meet some Maoist leaders just two days before the royal massacre. Sources say that during the meeting, the Pakistani officials told the Maoists that New Delhi would provide clandestine military support to the Nepal government to stop a Maoist takeover.
Maoists attack Bihar police post, one dead
(Soroor Ahmed) The Asian Age 29 May 2001
In a daring attack, around 500 Maoist Communist Centre activists attacked the Mali police station under Aurangabad district of Bihar. A sub-inspector was killed and five other policeman were injured in the attack late on Sunday night. The rebels decamped with 14 rifles, one carbine, one sten gun, 500 rounds of cartridges and a wireless set. According to the deputy inspector-general of police (Magadh Range), Mr N.C.Doundhiyal, the ultras blocked the road leading to the Mali police station by puncturing the trailer of a tractor and prevented the reinforcements from arriving on time. They also laid a landmine at the spot but the police party rushing to Mali managed to avoid it. However, after engaging the ultras for two hours, the policemen at the Mali police station gave in. The incident took place close to the Jharkhand border and the involvement of ultras from another state cannot be ruled out. The police has launched a massive combing operation in the area.
The link will provide a better picture on what they can achieve.
Outside of declaring war on China, we won't be able to stop them in their quest to peddle arms to whoever has the funds. They think we are evil for selling jets to Taiwan and Israel. The winner of the playground pushing contest is whoever has the hardest shove. Escalation at its classic best. All we can do is pray that India has the cojones to kick their asses when it comes down to toeing the line.
Blech, it's getting late and I've had too much vino. I'll see you guys tomorrow. Merry Christmas, and I hope you are doing well. God Bless...
Plain and simple, China wants to control Central Asia.
Hell, China wants to own Asia completely. No argument out of me there. They are still going to sell arms to whomever they want to, until we gird our loins and say, "No more!" I agree with whoever said that granting MFN status to them was a big mistake, because like any legislation, once enacted it has inertia and is difficult to revoke.
We've given the ChiComs so much latitude that they feel like they can do anything they wish in the world arena. The Taiwan issue leaves me scratching my head. The Taiwanese want nothing to do with the mainland, but China insists that the ROCs are rogues who need to be taken back into the fold. I believe we should sell ROC anything it wants or feels it needs to defend itself against its "big brother".
Thanks for the insight...
