"Great game, devastating way to lose...MUD"

I like UVA basketball very much, but when you have five kids all playing their own version of "playground" ball and no one is paying any attention to the coach who is trying to get them to play as a team, what you have is a potential NBA candidate or two but you don't win the big games. That's what separates a team like the Cavaliers and say, Duke. IMHO

"As I remember from high school, Roehm was one of Hitler's henchmen, who headed up the Stormtroopers. When Hitler thought Roehm had gotten too powerful for his own good he had him shot. Close, Landru?"

Kind of.
The story is somewhat deeper than that, from *my* POV, anyway.

Earnst Roehm was the leader of the pre-SS in Germany; called themselves, The Brown Shirts.
The mob was instrumental in spreading terror, intimidation, murder & all manner of havok which greatly contributed to Hitler's rise to power.

Ernst Roehm was also a homosexual.
Hitler loathed queers; however, Hitler also understood politics.
He needed Roehm & his followers -- badly -- if he were ever to assume total, absolute power?

Of course time passed, & history unfolds in Hitler's favor; so that once Hitler has a secure his grip on all Germany & the German people's hearts & minds?
The real *truth* of Ernst Roehm wasn't going to *quite* fit-in to Hitler's idea of what comprised his, "Arian Master Race."
I mean, whatwith ol' Ernst's propensity for packing fudge; & all that entails?

So, as the story goes...instead of Ernst Roehm being richly rewarded for all he'd done on behalf of Adolf Hitler as he fully expected?
He recieves a *Thank You* of quite another kind.
On one night, which came to be known as, "The Night of the Hummingbird"?
Hitler's personal, hand-picked elite set out into the night & murdered each & every one of Ernst Roehm's people; & there were many.
The first to go?
Ernst Roehm; naturally.

The parallels between ER & TM are there for anyone to see; if one cares enough to make the comparison(s)?

...we're speaking about classic betrayal, the stuff of novels; whenever one speaks of, Ernst Roehm.

"Ernst Roehm was also a homosexual."

I had read somewhere where a lot of the Nazi leaders were of this persuasion.

"I had read somewhere where a lot of the Nazi leaders were of this persuasion."

Many of the original Brownshirt leadership were as queer as a 5 mark note.
The operative word here is, of course, "were."
As in; there were no more after ol' Adolf consolidated his power? :o)

Remember the biggest threat to Germany (some say) pre-Hitler was that of Communism seeping into the country visa vi, Stalin's USSR.

Most Germans (it's my understanding), and homosexuals especially, were avidly on the anti-Red bandwagon big-time.
Why would the homos be so anti-communist?
Look it up.
The *communists* had their own version of, "The Ultimate Solution" when it came to alternative lifestyles et al.

...& the Communist's Broom was infamous & well known for its ability to, sweep clean. ;^)

Excellent post from another thread, my FRiend...I'm reposting it here in it's entirety:

The following is a press release directly from Global Crossings website. As has been stated the dots continue to be connected.

DNC. Terry McAuliffe. Global Crossings. $400million to a bankrupt company. Clinton. Chi-Comm's(Hutchinson). etc.

I am continually beening suprised by the depth of destruction by X42 (Clinton)

I belive he, more than any other individual (including bin laden) has done more damage to the moral, legal, financial and security fabric of this great country than anyone else dead or alive.

I am not without sin, but this person, who was POTUS should be ashamed.(I wanted to say hung!)

Hutchison Whampoa Limited and Singapore Technologies Telemedia Pte. Ltd. Plan to Invest $750 Million in Global Crossing

* Investment, combined with Chapter 11 filing, will restructure balance sheet
* Operations worldwide unaffected by filing

Hamilton, Bermuda - January 28, 2002 - Global Crossing (NYSE: GX) today announced that it has signed a letter of intent with Hutchison Whampoa Limited and Singapore Technologies Telemedia Pte. Ltd. for a $750 million cash investment for a joint majority stake in the company's equity in connection with a restructuring of the company's balance sheet. In order to begin the restructuring process, Global Crossing and certain of its affiliates commenced Chapter 11 cases in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York and coordinated proceedings in the Supreme Court of Bermuda.

ABOUT GLOBAL CROSSING

Global Crossing Ltd. (NYSE:GX) provides telecommunications solutions over the world's first integrated global IP-based network, which reaches 27 countries and more than 200 major cities around the globe. Global Crossing serves many of the world's largest corporations, providing a full range of managed data and voice products and services. Global Crossing operates throughout the Americas and Europe, and provides services in Asia through its subsidiary, Asia Global Crossing (NYSE: AX). Please visit www.globalcrossing.com or www.asiaglobalcrossing.com for more information.

Under the terms of the proposed investment, which is conditional on, among other things, the confirmation of a plan of reorganization by the courts before the end of August 2002, creditors would share in a combination of cash, new debt, and new equity in the restructured company. Existing common equity and preferred shareholders would not participate in the new capital structure.
John Legere, Chief Executive Officer of Global Crossing stated, "We believe this new equity investment from parties as strong as Hutchison Whampoa and Singapore Technologies Telemedia validates our confidence in the strong future of our company. This investment, along with the financial and operational restructuring that we're implementing, will strengthen our balance sheet and enable Global Crossing to build a sustainable business upon its existing unmatched global network. With this restructuring, we believe we can become the global leader providing networking services among the world's top 200 cities to global enterprises and carriers."
Mr. Legere said that business would continue as usual during the restructuring process. Employees will continue to be paid their wages and other benefits without interruption. Worldwide operations will be unaffected by the filing and customers will not experience any changes in their service.
"Ours is a balance sheet issue, not an operational one," Mr. Legere said, "and today's actions are intended to directly address this issue. Even with the financial uncertainty we've recently experienced, customers have continued to choose our network over many others. With this restructuring, we'll put financial uncertainty behind us and the power of our network will once again become the primary factor in the minds of our customers. Hutchison Whampoa and Singapore Technologies Telemedia are perfect matches for Global Crossing. They bring considerable financial resources and business acumen, which we are confident will add significant value to Global Crossing's prospects."
"With a strengthened balance sheet and reduced debt, we are confident that Global Crossing will be in an excellent position to take advantage of its unique global network, growing customer base, and outstanding service capabilities to create substantial value in the coming years. We are committed to an expedited restructuring process," Mr. Legere added.
Mr. Canning Fok, Group Managing Director of Hutchison Whampoa, and Mr. Lee Theng Kiat, President and CEO of Singapore Technologies Telemedia, said, "We are excited about the prospect of working with Global Crossing's management team and the opportunity presented by this transaction to develop and strengthen Global Crossing's business."
Hutchison Whampoa and Singapore Technologies Telemedia already have business relationships with Global Crossing and its affiliates. Asia Global Crossing and Hutchison Whampoa each own 50 percent of Hutchison Global Crossing, a leading telecommunications service provider in Hong Kong providing fixed-line, Internet and data services. Asia Global Crossing and a subsidiary of Singapore Technologies Telemedia each own 50 percent of StarHub Crossing, which owns and operates a high capacity backhaul network in Singapore.

"McAuliffe Didn't Even Invest His Own $100 K"

"In 1997, Winnick hired Terry McAuliffe, Clinton's chief fundraiser, as a consultant. According to the New York Times, the $100,000 he paid McAuliffe turned into an $18 million windfall as McAuliffe's contacts helped Global Crossing's stock climb. In 1999, McAullife set up a golf gave between Clinton and Winnick, which ended with Winnick pledging $1 million for Clinton's presidential library."

BTW...what exactly does Terry McAuliffe know about the Telecommunications Business that would justify this $18 Million "consulting fee"?!

I'm here at CPAC's "Internet Row" and watched Ollie North doing his show live for awhile before checking out Bill Bennett's excellent performance. Then, when I came back out to talk with the folks at the FR.com booth and wandered back to check out Ollie's speech, it's Standing Room Only going 5-6 deep in each doorway and you couldn't get past on a bet...LOL!! I could hear Ollie, though, and he sounded great.

I sure wish we could convince him to run against RINO VA Sen. Jawn Wahnah in the Primary this Spring and I wanted to get up front and put him on the spot with that question, but that just ain't gonna happen with the crowd we got brewing.

Any of you Virginians who are withing driving distance oughtta consider coming up for the day on Saturday...the FR.com booth is well-manned and it's great to put faces to evermore screen names. Also, Saturday's list of speakers includes Alan Keyes, Bob Novak, Sean Hannity, and Larry Kudlow.

There's been quite a bit of debate about why Dubyuh/Cheney avoided CPAC...reaching out to the Left ought not mean shunning your true constituency on the Right, if indeed we are Dubyuh's True Constituency.

Gotta go...folks are about to start bellyin' up to the bar...MUD

Thanks for the on site report from CPAC, Mud. Is it great to be among so many kindred spirits?

You are so lucky! I found the VLWC...and pinged ya', but I'd rather add the link to your wonderful patriotic collage thread.

How the DLC Does It. Enron's one of the (one of many) big DLC (Dem. Leadership Council) sponsors...this is a monster fundraising and political machine. Clinton headed it pre-'92, Lieberman, today...and it has the secretive, sneaky, ambitious characteristics of Hillary all over it...no wonder she was so paranoid. Guilty conscience, IMHO.

Cheers. (^:
