After repeatedly failing to win passage of tough gun control legislation in Springfield, Mayor Richard Daley and 12 suburban mayors on Wednesday announced they now will push for local laws to help get the job done.
Daley unveiled a model ordinance that would require gun dealers to have municipal licenses and another that would ban the sale and possession of assault weapons. His suburban allies said they would seek passage in their own villages and enlist support from colleagues to do the same in neighboring municipalities.

And exactly which direction are gang members going? Are they suburban gang members going into Chicago - or inner-city gang members going into the suburbs?
Every gun owner - and every other social conservative - in the Chicago suburbs or anywhere near Chicago should heat up local talk radio now over why decent people in decent suburbs should pay the price (more) for a failed inner city!
GUN REVIEWS free from ad-money bias - emphasizing woman-friendliness of tested guns!
More criminals will flock to Chicago and leave other areas.
Kinda like the Roaring Twenties again.
Note to residents of this area: leave before the crime rate (already bad with your current draconian gun laws) goes through the roof.
Stupid liberals.

We got preemption and shooting range protection by state law here in Wisconsin about 5 years ago through our NRA lobby efforts. Without it, these anti-gun local boards were trying to take away gun owning locality by locality.
True. The only gun store I can think of that might be affected is in Riverdale. All the others that I know of are not on the list of suburbs.
The solution here is to not patronize those that sign onto this (go to Gun World in Bensenville. They hate Daley).
As for the handgun ban in Chicago: My take is that it is legal to be a Chicago resident and own a handgun. However, the handgun mst be stored outside of Chicago city limits. To deny selling a Chicago resident a handgun is a violation of their civil rights. Am I wrong here? Can anyone tell me different?
Obviously, idiocy know no boundaries either.
No. Didn't Madison enact a trigger lock ordinance? I seem to remember some group requesting that the police to stop cars on 90/94 where it passes through Madison during hunting season, to check for trigger locks. Probable cause, your visible orange coat.
You're right, and I doubt it would hold up.
Most gun stores I know of would not sell to someone with a chicago @. If anyone is violating rights it's the IL gov'mt. If the salesman goes ahead and makes the sale, he's going to be payed a visit by the gun gestapo. That's one of the trick scams daley and j ryan run on the stores, they attempt to buy with a chicago @. They also attempt to get the salesman to advise on how to get around it. In most cases, getting into that discussion will get the salesman/owner into a charge of conspiracy to violate the law charge.
The owner and salesman of "the Gunslinger", in Oak Lawn, was busted for selling to a guy that was accompanied by a friend. The guy had a valid FOID, the saleman sold the gun. At the final sale the pair made hints the gun was for the other. The salesman paused and said, "this is for you, RIGHT!" Oh yea, the guy says. They were daley's gun gestapo and they took the store and they're in jail now. The old guy I knew somewhat, he was very nice and noticably cautious about these things. ATF and daley's gestapo had been pulling this kind of crap for years. The old guy had done my daughter's FOID app. The grabber's are creeps, down to the bone.
Gun World wouldn't take a check and they wanted $28 for 50rnds of 22mag, so...Village Sports has good prices and friendly folks.
Not until upstate New York gets to clean out our barn, first!!:-)
They are not concerned about their area. They want guns banned world wide. They're just keeping up their momentum. They don't want men to play with guns, that gives them a sense of self sufficiency and confidence. They want them to play with puds and develope a sense of worthlessness and dependency.
