Thank you so much! These are priceless! Thank God for Free Republic and Thank God for President Bush and six months with no more terrorist strikes on this country. And Thank God for all those who have gone to work throughout the world to locate, arrest, and/or kill terrorists (the list of nations who have arrested or even killed terrorists in the past six months is a long one and would make a good project for someone to gather). Our President and his team and all those working to prevent terrorist strikes have done an effective job of preventing strikes against us in the past six months - NO THANKS TO THE DEMONRATS WHO SEEM, WITH EVERY WORD UTTERED OUT OF THEIR VILE MOUTHS, TO BE WORKING FOR THE TERRORISTS AND AGAINST AMERICANS!
Not only must we never forget the 9-11 - I will never forget this President's courage during this time nor his administration's quick and determined actions to go after Ben Laden in Afghanistan, the axis of evil nations, and terrorists around the world! Thank GOD we have a President who is not afraid to do what is necessary to protect Americans and our allies! And thank GOD for our military heroes who have been defending us so bravely and so well! God bless each and every one of them - and every agent of our government who has decided their job of defending us from terrorists does matter and they are going to do whatever it takes to prevent further strikes against us! I am sure many attack attempts have been foiled by these American Federal Agents - DOING THEIR JOB - and I, for one, thank them also!
Now if we could just incorporate CIVIL DEFENSE (as Peggy Noonan discussed yesterday) - for every American Citizen in every American community - I would start feeling a bit better about what will happen if and when another attack hits.

You're welcome bump, and I agree about this president. The biggest victories so far are likely those we don't know about because the perps were quickly rounded up before their plans could succeed.

Tomorrow will be six months. Seeing this thread brings back the idea I had many times in the last few months.
On 911 and the following couple of weeks it was hard to "guess" what the causes were, what made the Mass Murder possible, and where it would all lead.
Lots of knowledgeable people contributed; some were wildly off base and some were right on.
Wouldn't it be great to have all the related threads on one CD for the record?
I certainly would buy at least one.
What do you think of the idea? As many threads as can fit on one CD starting around 5:50 PST 9/11/2001.
Would collecting those be hard to do?
It should sure be a great fundraiser, no?

We will never forget and I will never forgive. Our flag is flying still and our prayers for the soldiers are never-ending.

I still have difficulty rereading these threads, but they should be kept as a lasting memorial. It shows the immediate reaction of freepers, how we grieved together, how we got angry together, and how we're beginning to recover.
I still get a sick feeling in my stomach knowing that I was the second person--and probably only by milliseconds--to name bin Laden as the perpretrator, and a sense of irony as some people tried to dissuade me from naming him.

We will never forget and I will never forgive. Our flag is flying still and our prayers for the soldiers are never-ending.I thought I was doing okay today, then I went home for lunch. They were showing Matthew Commons' funeral in Arlington National Cemetry. I lost it when they played taps & continued to drip while his family received his medals and the flag.
It reminded me far too much of my grandfather's funeral (WWI), my father's funeral (WWII) and my uncle's funeral (WWII, Korea, Cold War). Both my grandfather and father could have been buried in a military cemetry, but our family chose not to. My uncle, however, was buried with full military honors in Arlington. However, Matthew Commons was 21 and died in combat in Afghanistan. My grandfather, father and uncle lived long, full lives.
I'm still shaky.

I have received several suggestions to record these permanently. It is perhaps easiest to ensure that the FR servers always maintain the links. But I will look into it.

NOT in seven months.
NOT in seven years.
NOT in SEVEN GENERATIONS!
Tell your children, your grandchildren, nieces, nephews, in-laws, out-laws...
