Once again the "mainstream" media refuses to be honest about immigration and racial matters.
How much of this discrepancy between the share of the "population" that is Hispanic and the Hispanic share of the federal workforce is due to such things as so high a percentage of the U.S. Hispanic population (compared to any other group) not even having a high-school degree?
How much of this discrepancy is due to so much (compared to European-Americans) of the U.S. Hispanic population being under 18 - and thus too young to work in most federal jobs?
How much of this discrepancy is due to rampant poor or nonexistent English fluency and literacy among Hispanics?
All are facts - facts that neither Washington nor the "mainstream" media will touch.

I agree completely. The job should go to the most QUALIFIED applicant. No quotas, No preferences (except for Veterans.No I am not a veteran.)
We pick on Canada a little bit sometimes, but their immigration system is far better than ours. In order to qualify for citizenship, you have to speak the language, along with having some skills. That would take out about 90% of the immigrants coming in here today.
It will be at the expense of white straight males. ....

Clearly a more accurate title of the article would have been: "Ideologues Running The Federal Bureaucracy, Who Want to Hire More Hispanics At the Expense Of Whites for Racist Reasons, Decide to Play Up The Underrepresentation Of Hispanics Without Mentioning the Cause: Overrepresentation Of Blacks".
Reagan was a great man. Many democrats defend their party by saying that Republicans are racists and intolerant of mintorities. I can with these posts see why some people believe them. Blanket insults against certain races or religions do more damage to those making than anything else.
I'm not anti-Hispanic or anti-anyone. But I do think if someone wants to come to this great country - #1, come legally, and #2, don't expect handouts. My grandparents came during a time where if someone was a public charge, they were sent back home.
It's dishonest of anyone to say there aren't many immigrants coming today who are using federal benefits. If it wasn't true, then why did Bush just ask Congress to restore food stamps to immigrants? The answer speaks for itself.
Because Democrats flatter them more and make them big promises, condescending to them like little children while advocating policies which keep them dependent, psychologically and economically, on pandering politicians?
But seriously, what is your problem with the statement? wardaddy is making the claim that 40% of employed black people (the phrase "blacks who do work" is synonymous with "employed black people") are employed by the government, at some level. Does this bother you? Why? I assume that if it bothers you, you will say that in your opinion the government should hire less black people. Or that black people should find work outside of government. Right?
Or maybe it bothered you for wardaddy to say this because the number is not true. Maybe the real percentage is something lower. Why don't you enlighten us, then, with the real number, instead of just whining about wardaddy's claim?
Or maybe the real explanation is that for some reason you nominated yourself the PC Police of this thread. If that's the case: get over yourself :)

Actually, 40 percent of the total population is employed by Federal, State or local government. Scary, isn't it, how 60 percent are supporting this 40 percent. Also, among the 60 percent not employed by the various governments, there would be a percentage who don't work at all and are on welfare, unemployment or social security. Maybe only 40 percent of us are supporting the whole country.
Yeah---and it would be handy for me to learn Spanish so I can communicate with the social workers at the welfare offices. I doubt they have many English speaking employees in there these days.
I'm used to it. Anytime I get in a candid thread about race, religion, Libertarian vs Conservative, Southern heritage, abortion , my unbending support for Israel, etc, I always get pegged by some PC Pop goes the Weasel type who doesn't like my views or at at a minimum my temerity to write non-PC things.
Problem with these folks is the usual: They just can't handle the Truth....it's not pretty and nor does it make them feel good about themselves.
I only harbour guilt about wrongdoings for which I am personally either directly or indirectly repsonsible for.
Judeo-Christian charity is a noble thing but feeling guilty cause the world ain't fair is just plain weak.
We should use the term "Democrat" as opposed to "Democratic." "Democratic" is a misnomer for what Democrats represent.
The Dems think anyone making over 50K a year are wealthy. Rubbish....depending on where one lives and how many dependents....middle class can run upwards of 200K a year.
If they only count the legal Hispanics....I would bet the percentage of federal employees is actually higher than the percentage of legals in the population.
Especially when you consider that Hispanic is not a race...it is the ability to speak Spanish or hail from a Spanish speaking country.
(I am considering learning to speak espanol and changing my name to Gomez.)
