When one is critical of minority preference or illegal Mexicans why then is that individual often criticized by any other Hispanic descended American even when that offended party may be Cuban or Colombian or Argentinian. I can certainly differentiate between a Cuban refugee and a Mexican campesino or a black who's 3rd or 4th generation living on the dole and spawning serial illegitimacy. If someone says too many white trash folks are living on the dole as well and behaving poorly, I was an Anglo don't get all defensive about it....cause it's true.

Salude...perdon my espanol mixta con portugese. Yo trato.

Come on guys.

Lettuce pickers?

Welfare recipients?

Can't speak English?

Non-existent literacy?

I'm simply protesting these statements because I don't agree.

It's the immigrant groups themselves who make the claims immigrants "take the jobs no one else wants to do" ad nauseum, such as agriculture, meatpacking, and construction. What's wrong with saying wait a minute, who did these jobs before millions started coming in here illegally?

The government is basing the percentage of Hispanics on an inflated number that counts the illegals. They have to be, otherwise the 13% is way off the mark. That in turn affects native born Americans of all races, colors and creed in their employment opportunities.

If the government would get immigration under control, we wouldn't even be having discussions like these.

There is no problem with having a discussion about immigration. The problem is when you slander and insult an entire race of people during that discussion your original point becomes mute.

You may be surprised to know that in some circles Americans of hispanic origin look at some Anglo Americans with pity. They seem to have lost moral values. Children certainly don't have the work ethic and educational priorities that I for example have. They take this country for granted and can not compete with 2nd generation immigrants of my backround. It's sad.

That's fine and dandy, but why direct this proclamation to me?

I am not one of the "guys" you are referring to who used any of the above phrases. If you go back and look at my posts they are primarily focused on the misleading and hypocritical title/article, which complains about Hispanic underrepresentation without being honest about it (by pointing out that blacks are overrepresented in almost the same proportion).

My one post to you was merely responding to the weird fact that you complained (without offering contrary evidence) when someone claimed that 40 percent of employed blacks worked for the government. In fact a later poster has now claimed that 40 percent of employed Americans work for the government. Maybe you should now go yell at him too? ;)

You can't have a discussion about immigration because immediately the mass immigrationists bring up race to shut up debate. But more and more people are not being intimated by that anymore. Government policy directly affects the people born here.

There's no insulting going on this thread, people are only stating what they see. If you can dispute the facts, then that's what you should do, not try to scare them into silence with the "racism" smear.

IF they are here illegally, it is one way of explaining why they are not on the federal workforce.

This whole thing is so silly not to mention immoral.

I work with someone who was born in Africa of Spaniard (Caucasian)parents who then moved to Mexico and he is now an American citizen (proudly). He was hired (to fulfill affirmative action mandates)as both an African American and Hispanic American. What a joke!

Hire people on merit, not on national or racial origin.

So you not only wish to pick on us for not being politically correct enough for you but now you wish to lecture us on how we're not industrious enough.

Who's the cultural supremacist now paisano?

If you're Cuban or Colombian then my hat's off to you but you need to wake up and realize you're on this boat with we Anglos and not with illegal Mexican immigrants or those blacks who are welfare dependent strictly because you are a "self-styled" minority. Likewise if you are in Dade county you're not a minority anyhow....I maintained a residence on Brickell for 4 years and never needed to speak a lick of Ingles locally.

Somebody has hit you over the head with a PC brickbat....if you are the industrious latino you say you are then you ought to know better....I've seen many a Cuban or Colombian or Venezuelan middle class professional slam the Puerto Ricans and Dominicans on the welfare rolls...same as any Gringo. You don't occupy an exclusive pedestal.

I believe I have seen reports whereby blacks who do work ultimately nearly 40% or so are employed by either Federal, State, or Local government.

I would find that very easy to believe. Very easy.  Rush has mentioned this a few times how Blacks are over represented in some parts the Federal Government. The FedGuv in DC is very "minority" if you know what I mean. Foreign born blacks love to be on the Guv payroll.......they ain't dummies and see the fantastic pensions and bennies if one is willing to "do the time" in a mind numbing work environment.

"Whether it's for political reasons or other reasons, it needs to be done now," ……….
……………"The bottom line for our community is that they want to see folks (in government) who look like them."

And why is this not racist?
Oh, I know, because they are not white.

If Lettuce pickers, Welfare recipients, Can't speak English, Non-existent literacy, Criminals, etc. all sound like valid descriptions of people to you, this is a lost cause. I don't waste my time pointing this out to be a pain. I honestly feel offended. I also dislike what the democratic party has done to this country and would want to see conservatives be more succesfull.

"Lettuce pickers" is not my term. I used it in this post because it's the immigrant groups themselves who say we should not deport illegals because they do the agriculture jobs of picking lettuce, strawberries etc. How is that insulting to you?

What's next, it's insulting to say immigrants should learn to speak English? Why not? My grandparents did. It was expected of them in those days. They couldn't get naturalized if they didn't learn the language of the land.

How do you think the Japanese or the Mexicans would like it if 10 million English speaking Anglos illegally immigrated to their country, then demanded they give government services, including voting ballots in English?

I can't believe we're even debating these points. It's the main reason we need a time-out from immigration till we can get it all straightened out. At least 10 years or more.

I honestly try not to slam anyone. I can tell you that hispanics in general can be more racist than whites. The problem here is that you can insult your own family, but when someone else insults your family you become antogonistic towards that person or people. Republicans have been painted as racists. I would like to see that image go away among hispanics. I'm not trying to be politically correct. I'm trying to point out that not all hispanics scum of the earth and insulting an entire race does a lot of damage to Republicans, thus our country.

I know here in Nashville, where blacks are 20% of the city proper and 8% of the 7 county metro population that in certain depts. of the Feds, State, and Local they make up at times over 50%. In other depts. like Codes and Planning they are a much less percentage. Motor Vehicle is very high in black employment.

I'm with you , I don't fault them for it...but unfortunately it's just another reason they are likely to remain Dems.

BUT...we have no business concerning ourselves with representational quotas period much less when this quandry may take into acount illegals as well. It's absurd...like we've all fell down the rabbit hole

Regards.

I've seen no one on this thread insult the entire Hispanic ethnic group nor any race. Complaining about illegals and quotas is not insulting one whole group.

I married one of those insulted "races" by the way and have two lovely American daughters of half Brasilian/Lebanese Christian descent for my efforts and with whom I now share joint custody(I do pay dearly for that;>)....

I am telling you that many South Florida Hispanics have no cause to knee jerk defend illegal immigration from Mexico. It's apples and oranges. I am very happy for the Cubans in Miami....without them Gore would be our President.

One can discuss the tidal wave of Mexican immigration or problems in the black community without making Latinos such as yourself feel compelled to hurl the racist label. I lived in Miami.... do you think Overtown or Liberty City black thugs have an affection for Cubans or South Americans?.

You must have been too young to remember the McDuffie riots 20 years ago when black looters were pulling whites (anglo and latino) from their cars and beating them to death in North Central Miami and when the black rioting hordes tried crossing the Miami river to enter Little Havana they were stopped in their tracks and ran like dogs before a mob of hardcore armed to the teeth Cuban expatriots.

If you don't remember ask somebody.....20 years wasn't so long ago.

You have nothing to gain from feeling we are your enemy.

It's actually a Cuban immigrant, George Borjas who is speaking forcefully against illegal immigration because he sees the impact that's having on the poor natives.

It would seem to me all Americans would come out against what's going on, because it's us who's being affected by irresponsible government policy.

May the Hispanic American continue to enjoy such good fortune and avoid the pox that is employment by a massive, coercive Federal Government, which snuffs out entrepreneurial lifestyles and places increasing limits on liberty.

Could a white person say something like this? Watch who comes out of any Federal office at lunchtimes. It sure doesn't mirror the white population in this country, that's for sure!
